In the beginning, when Neopia was
young the world was different. It was mainly composed of small islands,
which later fused to become the continents we know of today. The energies
of this world were controlled and guided by a race of creatures only
known as "Overseers". These overseers created the Uberfaeries
to control the different aspects of this world and regular faeries to
help them in this task. Each island was imbued with a different combination
of these energies, or "magic", and this is what sprung the
different species of neopia. Since there were so few creatures then
magic was plentiful Neocreatures were more powerful and actually looked
quite different. Time went on and the Overseers left Neopia to their
appointed guardians, but they took the knowledge of their existence
from the minds of their "offspring". Only written myths and
half truths of their presence were left, the true potential of the Neocreatures
lost perhaps forever. As time went by, Neopia changed and grew like
any other world. The different struggles and even abuses from some of
its inhabitants slowly consumed the ambient magic of the world, the
Neocreatures started to weaken.
At this time an Obsidian Black Scorchio arose, representing the earth.
Somewhere else an Opal White Shoyru, representing the air, gained new
consciousness and felt somewhat "incomplete". By the same
token, a Molten White Kougra was being born in a volcanic cave at the
highest peak in the Polar North of Neopia at the same time that in an
underwater city in the southernmost part of neopia an Indigo Wocky gave
it's first cry. In the years to come the shoyru and scorchio traveled
Neopia never content to stay in one place and fated to never meet until
the right moment. These creatures learned from every race they met and
were actually present when legendary points of interest were erected
on Neopia. It's said that it was their idea to build the obelisks to
contain and maintain the decreasing magics in Neopia. These two Neocreatures
attained enlightenment such as none had before, some even said that
they had a knowledge not of them. Meanwhile, the wocky and kougra enjoyed
their infancy sometimes an unexplained melancholy overcame them and
each looked longingly to the horizon. Continents were beginning to form
from the union of the islands, much strife and adjustments had to be
made from races meeting each other and the turmoil that the land collisions
brought. In one of these cataclysms two families decide to flee to the
center of Neopia, a white Kougra and an Indigo almost Black wocky meet
for the first time. They become inseparable and feel that a void has
been filled in their lives. Magic continued to dwindle and the situation
was turning critical. The scorchio and shoyru meet with the tribal leaders
to find a solution. These two creatures had become renowned in the world
and everybody listened to their wisdom. Even in this grand reunion neither
met the other directly, only catching glimpses of each other. A decision
was reached: shoyru and scorchio had learned of the overseer myths and
knew of a way to save their world. A merger of another dimension and
their own. They chose our world. Not for our resources or technology,
rather for our imagination and the potential of our spirits. It's this
spiritual part of our world that would keep their world healthy and
slowly nurse it to health.
Thus, the NeoPETS; no longer Neocreatures, were formed. Our influence
mingled into their world and it changed them: some for the better, some
for the worse. After this event the shoyru and scorchio were called
the wise ones. The wise ones continued to travel and each sponsored
one of the young felines in our story. The shoyru taught his opposite:
the wocky and the scorchio: the kougra. Unlike their mentors the felines
did everything together, balancing each other completely. When the wise
ones realized this they made an agreement to deliberately meet, and
see if this lesson that they'd learned from their students could be
used by them also. They met in a secluded glade, with their students
in tow. When the wise ones met each other magic exploded in the air,
the relic each carried glowed. Each felt like they were finally complete.
They joined paws and also each half of an orb of Overseer origin, the
source of their knowledge. In a flash of multicolored light the wise
ones fused into a single creature: a Silver Dragon. A complete orb was
in one of its paws and it hovered in the air in a serene and regal manner.
The orb spoke: "This is the true form a NeoCREATURE. It's metallic
form to indicate the preciousness of all life, no longer white or black
but gray to symbolize the balance between each." The dragon looked
at it's students and told them to travel apart and journey for enlightenment
so that they would ascend like they had. They also told of a time when
they would be back. And told them that they had to search in their travels
so that they would know when that time would be.
The felines traveled and grew and
learned and loved and hurt and finally got together and ascended but
not in the same balance that their teachers had. That's why the tiger
in our guild has black stripes and is not totally gray. That's also
why the Dragon and the Tiger can sometimes be seen in conflict, but
it teaches us about life and the opposites in it. That's also why they're
in front of the ying and yang. Before the tiger left it left this message.
They are the clues as to the return of the Silver Dragon. When a gathering
of people gather under my color I will watch them. When a gathering
of people gather under where I hide I will watch OVER them. If these
people are of the right spiritual force, I will let them see me in dreams.
If they have balance they MIGHT see me. If they do good with their actions
I will visit them. And when these people reach a hundred something wonderful
will happen. These clues were gathered by the felines in their travels
and there might be errors or inconsistencies in their stories. Is it
too much coincidence that a gathering of people (guild, perhaps?) has
so much in common with this legend? Some say that none of this legend
is true and that in fact a descendant of the Wise Scorchio is in our
guild and is in fact responsible for this story. Or maybe he's just
trying to set in motion events that will bring back his long lost ancestor...
