My search in the past

<<<<< search for the 40 differences >>>>>

In the seventies(in 1973) I had the challange to search for my roots in the past.

On my way to the descent of my ancestors, with the name "Van Popering", I visited the town Bruinisse in Zeeland (Holland)
The information I received from the local authorities was too much to make a quick result !
All the bits and pieces ( the old documents) were written in an old-dutch style.
That was not easy, I needed a training course in old dutch writing !!

All kinds of the authority-registers were available and had also a linking to the old maps of the town with the streets and the houses belong.
There was a cross-index to the registers with those little houses of that time.

Within 10 minutes walk from the townhall I was able to see the home-locations in Bruinisse, unfortunately some of the houses were modified and unrecognizable for me..sometimes a building-site...and some houses were hit in a bombardment of the 2nd W.W.

I found the birth home of my father (Cornelis Wouter Sr.) in the Millstreet (Molenstraat). His father (Wouter van Popering) was the local tailor/ hairdresser.

The birth home is the house next from left side of the millstreet (molenstraat)

Presentation:
The collected information , well-ordered and presentable, were offered to my parents on the occasion of the 45th anniversary of their marriage day. My 3 brothers and 8 sisters were surprized too.
After that time there was a great radio silence about this subject....now , 25 years later I put the documentation direct on the internet...a new challenge....via my own website !!!

It's an excellent tool to improve my family tree with new family members and maybe a new linking with family members from all over the world !!

Some special topics of my search:

The struggle for live:
The old professions, illiteracy, the living conditions and the poverty in that time (hundreds of years ago) How people manufacture their products in the province of Zeeland (of the Netherlands)
