ADDING A 2 METER SNAKE TO THE REST OF THE STOCK ...

18-12-2002

Finally she will be in soon, Amanda is getting into the breedery, and everyone here is excited to meet her.. She is lovely tamed, half matured, and a good 2 meters in length. She loves being handled, and has a tender personality.. and looks great after her last molt :-)). I will be cleaning out Morrison's Habitat, and than we will add all the snakes at once, including Amanda. With some strong friends nearby, just in case of a fight. But after adding Sunny to the stock a couple of weeks ago, I am sure it will go the same... with no problems whatsoever :-) I don't think she needs to be QT'd, since se already was for 2 months, so when she's in my house, she will go straight in Mor's habi at the moment of entrance...

In case of problems, I have already 2 seperate tanks on full standby, so if there's a fight or whatsoever, I can remove Sunny ( smallest ) and Amanda or Melanie, to one of those tanks.. Morrison is still in QT, so he will meet her later, for now, he's away for some weeks to go :-((  What can go wrong, you might ask ?? Well since Amanda is used to other snakes nearby, and the others are used to that also, I cannot imagine what might go bad, but it are solitair animals, and no one can say what will... In case of a fight there must be plenty of muscle to get them outof eachother.. Amanda is big enough to suffocate Sunny, and eat her !!! But Melanie is also, and there the best of friends.. so I'll sit quitly near the tank, add Amanda, and I'll keep a very close...24 hour watch on them... But if nothing happens in the first few hours, hopes are that it never will... Fights between cagemates, however, are allways something to keep in mind... I have read about snakes, fighting like mad dogs, whilest they were already 3 years together... so... BE CAREFULL !!!! If you ever saw 30 feet of snake fighting, you might reconcider buying that lovely puppie dog, you also liked in the pet shop, in stead of that Burm.. !!!
