PHASE 1 ( pics under construction )

PHASE 2

When Morrison's tank was finished in Feb of this year, I soon started drawing pics of "the Big one" as I lovely call the new enclosure. The terrarium ?? will house my own 3, and sometimes more adult females, with a male when wanted :-) Here's a recap on what we did so far..

all size calculations are in length x width x height x thickness ... in cm

Started drawing at 04-2002

Started calculating / testing 08-2002

Started building at 19-10-2002

Finished the raw Bath placement ( 20-10 )

Started Base construction ( 25-10 )

Placed HIMOTEP ( 27-10-2002 )

17-11-2002 : Currently strengthening walls and doorways, AND ADDING WINDOWS

12-01-2003 : Starting to place electrical wiring, need to add 170 m ... !!??!!

10-03-2003 : Window 1 is added, enclosure part 1 is almost finished.

10-08-2003 Started to finish up on enclosure 1, adding the last segments.. second part is expected to enter at 29/09/2003 yep... it was a long summer :)

27-08-2003 : The outside of enclosure 1 is coated, the inside is coated... The main door is added, including 3 huge locks, there's a floor coating added in the "dry zone", and the nicks and cracks are filled up... Hey, add some lights and there off... Expect some pics this week on how it's getting along.. I hope to be finished before 19-10-2003... the I've worked on and off on it, for over a year so it has to stop :-)

28-08-2003 : added the final lights, added and painted the full inner and outer side, base painted all the walls, added floorcover, and cleaned it all out. first trial run asof now until 30-08-2003

29-08-2003 : Added Amanda and Deana into there new enclosure. slid in at around 1700.

02-09-2003 : First trial run in progress with the female snakes... they LOVE the bath :-) Temperatures tend to stay a bit low, and I'll add another heat source if it keeps up. I also have to take out the minor "mistakes" I made. I decided to add some woodchips on the floor in the dry zone, but there going out asap... When feeding a snake in there, they all go into the mouth, and the snake has no toothpick to get them out... so that will have to go..

12-09-2003 Trial run finished, almost there.... almost !!!

20-09-2003 : As I came home from work, I added the last trial run data on the new enclosure in my pc... There 4 females in there, and it has settled at stable temperature spots, and a fairly good humidity.. ( Duh... there's a good 100 liters of water in there... ) Yep... I guess I can say that it's a great habitat for my lovers...

ALSO A BIG THANK YOU GOES OUT TO ALL THE FOLKS THAT HELPED ME OUT MAKING THIS HUGE ENCLOSURE TO WHAT IT HAS BECOME... A SAFE, GREAT LOOKING AND GOOD HABITAT FOR MY BURMS... YOU ALL KNOW WHO YOU ARE, AND ON BEHALF OF MELANIE, JAMES DOUGLAS MORRISON, SUNSHININ' DIAMOND, ALLISON AMANDA AND ONI TASH DEANA...

I THANK YOU ALL !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

added the new tanks :P:P:P all 8 of them

Updated 21-08-2003

As you can see some minor changes took place in the last weeks. I decided to place a separate full glass ( python proof ) enclosure, in stead of the connected wooden one, because cleaning and handling is much easier ( and safer ) that way. It is expected to be standing and online at 01-11-2003. It's a FULL GLASS !! 1 cm thick tank, measuring 240 * 100 * 120 cm with slider doors at the front side... At full doors open, I'll have an 230 cm wide and 100 cm high opening, to handle the content :-)

That should be enough to have the 4 girls happy.  The water tank in Encl 1 (A) will double as a egg deposit place, filled with all the things it needs. As that will happen, I'll put an extra 50 L tank in the opposite corner... Usually Encl 1 will function as a place where they only go to bath and - or shed / lay eggs. But it can also double as the female selection tank. The show tank in my living room will hold Morrison, and later on Sunshine..

Encl 3 is fully equipped already to house one of them, but will be on standby until further notice

Below is an electrical map of the Main enclosure ( 1 )...
