問與答
- What ports does VoIPerized use?
VoIPerized uses 1 port, namely default UDP 4379. - Can I change the port that VoIPerized uses?
Yes you can. You can change the port on the preferences window - Is it possible to change the ringtone?
Yes, this can be done by replacing the 'ring.wav' file in the directory where you installed VoIPerized by
your own wav file. - When I start VoIPerized I see the taskbar icon but the main window stays hidden?
This happens when the configuration file of VoIPerized is corrupted. Delete the file 'VoIPerized.cfg' in the directory where you installed VoIPerized. When you then restart VoIPerized it will create a new one. - Can I export my contact list?
Yes, just copy the file 'contacts.lst', this file contains all the contacts. - I'm behind a router, how do I get VoIPerized working?
If UPnP doesn't work you have to configure your router to forward port UDP 4379 to your computer.
For help on port forwarding goto: www.portforward.com/routers.htm. - I have a firewall, how do I get VoIPerized working?
You have to configure your firewall to let traffic pass on port UDP 4379. - The voice of the remote person sounds really bad?
Make sure that the +20dB gain in Volume Control>Microphone>Advanced is disabled. - I can't hear the remote side speaking or the remote side can't hear me?
This can have several reasons:
- If the icon on the connection tab lights up you are transmitting audio. In this case it's probably a firewall or router which is causing the problem.
- If the icon doesn't light up it is probably your audio settings which are wrong. Go to Windows' Volume control and select from the menu: Options>Properties. Select recording and make sure the microphone is ticked and then press OK. Make sure the microphone is selected as input and that it isn't muted.
- I hear an echo of myself, how do I get rid of this?
This is because the remote side isn't using a headset. When the remote side is using speakers make sure
that the speaker volume isn't too high. Also try changing the VAD level. Or he can enable the echo canceller. - When I try to connect I get the message: "Connecting...Failed!"?
This means there is no response from the IP-address you are trying to reach. There could be several reasons for this:
- The remoteside is behind a firewall.
- The remoteside is behind a router.
- The remoteside only allows connections from his contacts on his contact list.
- You are connecting to the wrong IP-address.
- When I try to connect I get the message: "away"?
This means the person on the otherside didn't respond to the popup. - When I try to connect I get the message: "busy"?
This means the person on the otherside is already calling with another person and didn't accepted your call. - When starting VoIPerized I get the message: "Linked to missing export DSOUND.DLL:11"
This means that your DirectX is corrupted or outdated. VoIPerized needs DirectX 8.1 or higher to function correctly. You can download the latest version of DirectX. - When starting VoIPerized I get the message: "The ordinal 11 could not be located in the dynamic link library DSOUND.dll"
This means that your DirectX is corrupted or outdated. VoIPerized needs DirectX 8.1 or higher to function correctly. You can download the latest version of DirectX. - When I start VoIPerized it tries to connect to a site. What is it doing?
It is simply checking if your version of VoIPerized is up to date, or if you are on a LAN it retrieves your external IP. - How does the conferencing work? Who acts as the server? etc.
When conferencing everybody is connected to everybody so there is no central server. This way the latency stays low. You should bare in mind that the bandwidth that VoIPerized uses scales with the number of connections. For example if your bitrate in the preferences window is set to 24kbps and you have 3 active connections VoIPerized's total upload bandwidth will have a maximum of 24kbps * 3 = 72kbps (= 9KByte/s). - When starting VoIPerized I get the message: "Error: CreateCaptureBuffer failed"?
This error is generated when VoIPerized can't access the microphone using DirectX. Usually this happens when another application is already using the microphone. If this is not the case check your sound settings in the configuration panel. - I don't have a static IP address how then can people contact me?
You should register a username in the VoIPerized phonebook. Everytime you sign in your IP and Port will be updated in the phonebook. When people connect to you using your username VoIPerized checks the phonebook to find out your IP and Port. - Will VoIPerized run on Linux?
VoIPerized works perfectly on Linux using the latest version of Wine. - I am behind a NAT router, how can multiple VoIPerized clients work behind the router?
Each client of VoIPerized should be assigned a different port in Settings>Preferences.
