As expected McFly hit No.1 on Sunday with their cover of Queen's Don't Stop Me Now. The track was recorded in aid of Sport Relief.
 

JULY 2006

Brian May and Cliff Richard have joined forces in the studio to rework the knighted singer's hit 'Move It'.. Richard was keen to give the song a rockier edge, and he immediately plumped for the BOHEMIAN RHAPSODY rocker's distinctive sound. A spokesperson for Richard says, "It's going to be an interesting piece."

As part of Uncut Magazine's 100 best debut albums ever, Queen's 'Queen' debut album is listed as number 2 in the list of 'Debut Albums You Hate To Love' (first was 'Bat Out of Hell'). The news around the top 100 is at the following link - http://www.uncut.co.uk/magazine/

JUNE 2006

'We Are The Champions' featured in the opening ceremony of the FIFA World Cup 2006 in Germany. Orchestras and choirs all joined together in a football medley. During the World Cup many other Queen songs are played in the stadiums, such as 'Crazy Little Thing Called Love' and 'Don't Stop Me Now'.

As we all know Robbie Williams is a big Queen fan. Yesterday he showed that by singing the opera section of Bohemian Rhapsody at one his four concerts in the Amsterdam Arena.

MAY 2006

According to HMV (Japan) a new Freddie Mercury compilation CD is being released on September 4th 2006 in Europe, 'Very Best Of Freddie Mercury' (TOCP-70058). So far HMV is the only one who listed it on their website, so keep an eye on it!

A holding page for the new Freddie Mercury site www.loveroflifesingerofsongs.com is now live. The site is being produced to coincide with the 60th Birthday of Queen's front man and series of new releases in September of this year.

On Friday morning the 12th of May, Dutch singer Stevie Ann visited Giel Beelen in his program on 3FM radio. In the framework of 3FM's "80s Request" she played Queen's One year of Love.
