Tekstvak: Speedline was created for the German market. The product was complete identical with Aurora except for the guard rail and terminal track. The VDE demanded changes to prevent interference. It was sold as a private label in all METRO (a type of Wall Mart ) stores in Germany. The agent for this line was HERBERT PISPERS in Troisdorf..It was a complete line including accessories, such as cars, only magnatraction, and trucks on blister. As this line was in competition with Faller, Aurora paid Faller a small sales commission. Volumes have not been substantial, only about 20.000 sets have been sold. In 1982 MIRO MECCANO ended the license agreement one week before the start of the Paris toy .Help was offered by LIMA,the Italian train manufacturer. LIMA’s french distribution company LOISIRS MOBELISME was offering us space and support. They introduced us to LAREDOUTE, the principal French mail ordering house. The buyer, Mr. VANMENEN, liked two sets in partical, the stop police slot set and the speedsteer truck set. Two conditions had to be met a special mail order package and labels on the truck. Only UK collectors should know this car in this very special package. In the UK, Aurora advertised its product line in a boy’s magazine called TIGER. In this magazine was published a comic called SKID SOLO. When the management approached Aurora to do a joined promotion a comic story was born, SKID racing the Aurora car during the Dutch grand prix. Aurora changed the 1835 car with extra decoration of TIGER on the wing and S.SOLO on the side. Decoration that was never removed in future production runs in Singapore, Therefore the systole car was available also outside the UK. To export from Holland to the EFTA countries was duty free if the contents was over 50% from the common market. By getting the trucks in part out of Singapore and adding a few other components like the SHELL label we were able to get a so called euro-1 certificate, made in Singapore was removed from the chassis and a label assembled in Holland was added.
