Many of our planned new product introductions did not make it in the final days of AURORA.. The video games forced AURORA to look more to the toy segment of the market as the hobby market was already seriously shrinking. Some of the developments have later been copied by other toy-and hobby companies. . In 1984 MATTEL introduced within the HOTWHEELS product line CRACK UPS. A novelty product. especially for die cast cars. However AURORA had designed a similar product that was close to market introduction in1983. Prototypes were designed and hand built , but with raisin (abs),the impact was less dramatic as later with the die-cast cars from Mattel.
