SPEEDSTEER WITH LIGHTS
Most of AURORA s new product introductions were designed and developed in the States. The international division had no research and design budget, but created new product introductions out of the existing bodies and product range. Perfect examples are the RED BMW and the BLACK MONZA.
In Europe, during 1983, we were very successful with mail order with the speedsteer line,but for this line there were no new product introductions planned as for this line sales in US and Canada were on a very low level. That’s why we designed with existing lited bodies a new product line,speedsteer with lights. The impact of the bulbs solded to the speedsteer chassis was not as bright as with the magnatraction chassis but it worked. The police car was a problem, we finally had a couple of working samples but these have not been to market.. From the two new SETS with lighted speedsteer the MIDNIGHT CONVOY CHALLENGE sold a couple of thousand sets via the LA REDOUTE catalogue.
