A few words,

A new design of the website here. I hope you enyoy this new layout. Thank you for visiting CombatZone. Most people are curious about the people behind the work.

Since the Gulf War of 2003, the use of SOF troops has never been so high. Especialy the United States used every SOF capable force there is in their arsenal. This website is run by members and former members of SOF several units. The site design and maintanance is done by John Wanker.(Alias)

The general part of the site, which is open for everyone has only general information on units and so on, that are widely known to the public. Most texts are from other websites, and there source is then also noted. Most texts are rewritten, where possible, if mistakes are found concearning units, names etc.

We are not resonsible for the context on other websites, who are linked by us.

CombatZone has been created to provide a glimpse inside the world of elite military (and civilian units) tasked with unconventional and oftentimes very hazardous duties. This site does not deal EXCLUSIVELY with Special Operations Forces, it is intended to provide an overview of SOF, CT, Hostage Rescue and scores of issues related to Low Intensity Conflict. Of course, the emphasis of this site is geared toward SOF, and that remains its primary goal.

"Special Operations: Operations conducted by specially organized, trained, and equipped military and paramilitary forces to achieve military, political, economic, or informational objectives by unconventional military means in hostile, denied, or politically sensitive areas. These operations are conducted across the full range of military operations, independently or in coordination with operations of conventional, non-special operations forces. Political-military considerations frequently shape special operations, requiring clandestine, covert, or low visibility techniques and oversight at the national level. Special operations differ from conventional operations in degree of physical and political risk, operational techniques, mode of employment, independence from friendly support, and dependence on detailed operational intelligence and indigenous assets."
