Part 1 (Amsterdam)

Like most visitors of Holland we start our tour at Schiphol international airport. The airport is just a few miles away from our capital: Amsterdam. So as we are in the neighbourhood, we might as well go there first.
Amsterdam is the main attraction of Holland. With its famous canals and beautiful old buildings, it is one of the prettiest cities of Europe.
Beside that Amsterdam has 735.000 inhabitants of 173 nationalities, 165 canals, 1281 bridges, 42 museums and 600.000 bikes.
Every year 4,6 million people visit the city, and you're one of them now.

The name Amsterdam derives from the dam on the Amstel River on which the city was built. The name is first recorded (Amstelledamme/Amstelredamme) in 1275.

But lets go on with the tour. Lets visit some of Amsterdams museums first:

Places of Interest

Of course a trip by boat through the famous canals is part of the tour as well. After that we visit the townhall and gather some touristic information for our next trip to this wonderful city.
