Larabanga is a very small village at the entry of the Mole park. So a lot of tourists on their way to Mole pass through this village. According to the villagers it happens to be also the place where the oldest mosque in Africa is. And just to see it you have to pay 10,000 Cedi's. And there's even more. There's also a magic stone. The stone is a little bit outside the village where they wanted to build the mosque. But the stone was magic and the myth goes that whenever they replaced the stone it came back on its old place like a miracle. They replaced the stone many times, before they gave up and build the mosque on the place where it's now. Of course you must also pay to see the stone. There are 2 old man who claim the stone is theirs, if you come there they will ask you to pay. Indeed when we were there 2 old man seem to came up out of nowhere. They even told us Kofi Annan was there and as he was so special he was allowed to write his name on the stone. So yes, the name on the stone is really written by Kofi Annan. Then you might wonder what happens if you don't pay and just go away on your bicycle. They start shouting until they realize not all tourists are that stupid.
