November 2003
This year unfortunately no seven hills cross for the artist to run. After suffering from pain in the chest he was checked in the hospital. Luckily it appeared to be only the stomach that caused the trouble, not his heart. So he just watched his team-mates run...unfortunately it was raining all day.

July 2003
Jan Schreurs returns after being in Mexico for a month. Travelling from Mexico City to Teotihuacan, to Xalapa, Los Tuxtlas, Cuatemaco, Palenque, San Cristobal de las Casas, Cañon del Sumideron, back to Xalapa and Veracruz, Orizaba (Pico Orizaba), Puebla, Cholula and at last Mexico City again. Jan Schreurs was delighted by the amazing antique culture, the cultural differences and not at least by the beautiful colours he found all over in Mexico: in the houses, in hand-painted advertisements and clothes. See the picture of a tapistery he bought below (from Cholula/Puebla made in a special local way) and another picture here below of some colourfol painted houses. Also the beauty of the nature of this enormous country (about 50 times as large as the Netherlands) with its many volcano's, exotic plants and animals. As you could have guessed: Jan tried to ascent the highest vulcano of Mexico 5700 metres (the Pico Orizaba or Citlaltepetl -what means: mountain of the star-) 'only' to a height of 4200 metres above sea-level (unfortunately he went to Orizaba at the start of the rain-season...so it was simply too clouded. Of course with the excellent help of local guides Rodolfo and Jose Luis without one it would be hard to find the proper way up (and down). Great! In 2005 he will go there again! Hasta Luego..

July 2002
Jan went to the south of France (Aubignan,Valpentras) to see the Tour de France 2002. He even climbed to the top of the Mont Ventoux to test his limits in cycling. A really tough experience. After this he went to La Plagne (the Alpes) to see the so called queen-etappe of the tour de France. He climbed la Plagne to see the dutch cyclist Michael Boogerd win this most tough etappe (being hunted by the American Lance Armstrong).

January 2002
Jan Schreurs ran his first half marathon in Egmond aan Zee. This race known as a severe and heavy one runs along the seashore and through the dunes. Especially the beach is a tough part of it. But Jan Schreurs and some other members of the runningteam Hit 91 managed to get to the finish without severe injuries and with some satisfaction about the result.

december 2001
It must have been around 1991 Jan Schreurs started running for several reasons: for his health, suffering from CARA and for the curiousity to the limits of his own strenght and endurance. In running Jan Schreurs discovered sensations similar to painting and meditation: while running the mind gets free of everyday life troubles and after the act of running one feels refreshed and full of new energy.A process similar to making art and meditation.
After some years of running distances up to 15 kilometres Jan Schreurs will try to do a half marathon next month in the Egmond Half Marathon on january the 13th. While preparing for this run by doing the seven hills cross in November Jan Schreurs met the world champion on the 10 km Haile Gebrselassie (preparing himself for the marathon of London 2002) who became second (even running under the old world best time on the 15 km).
