Corruption, the misuse of power

You may follow my new twitter account @downwithelite. The coming time I will twitter about corruption.

Money obtained by corruption goes from the bottom to the top of society. More power means more money. The 99% pay the bill because each euro paid for corruption increases prices and taxes.
In The Netherlands 2% of the national income (about ten billion euro) is redirected to the top by corruption, worldwide it is one trillion euro. Without corruption austerity measures should not be needed.

Just as bankers are hardly prosecuted for white-washing drugs money, corruption is silently tolerated. White collar crimes have a low risk and a high return.
Bribery (direct corruption) is lucrative but legalised corruption is maybe more attractive. T
he risk is smaller and the cost for the 99% higher.
Decisions are taken in the expectation of future money in the form of higher paid jobs, ridiculous salaries, privileges, bonuses or other perks. The well-being of the 99% is disregarded.

Permitting corruption, intentionally withholding information about corruption for juridical authorities is comparable with the omerta in the mafia. Employees in the public and private sector encourage and support corruption. When you open your mouth, you can forget any promotion. The bad treatment of whistleblowers is a well-known example.

Corruption is the misuse of power for private gain that leads to decisions that favour decision-takers. It continues to exist when there is no independent control. Now the corrupt top is controlled by their peers who also who want to climb up in the hope of getting private gain.
We need an independent Fourth People’s Power, a multitude of Autonomous Clubs that control, veto and even punish faulty and corrupt leaders.

We can undermine leaders who use their entrusted power to fill their own pockets by preventing the use of the corrupt money. It is spend on holidays, parties, gadgets, still bigger cars and houses, expensive sex, gambling, a second house in the country side, eating in expensive restaurants, membership of exclusive clubs and many more perks to distinguish themselves from common citizens. These extravagancies are the target, making the world they have bought with corruption money uninhabitable. When they cannot spend that filthy lucre anymore, why should they be corrupt?
