Truth Beyond Routine

Artist: Jennifer Tee
Location: Recife, Brazil

Jennifer Tee lived the life of a girl in the North East of Brazil, in a reality in which the shamanic rituals of Candomblé play an important role in daily life. Candomblé is a very popular believe in Brazil, mainly among the poor population. It is a mixture of African religions (mainly Voodoo), native Indian rituals and Catholicism. The idea was that - according to many reports - there seems to be a 'reality beyond reality', experienced during mental stages of meditation or trance. Jennifer's role was the one of a novice who is about to be tested whether or not she is ready to enter this state of consciousness.

Failure Of Consignment

Artist: Gijs Müller

Gijs Müller played the role of a cynic who lives in the semi-secluded situation of a motel room in Scottsdale, a small city near Phoenix, Arizona. Living in a resort-like situation between golf playing elderly and television, he can hardly distinguish between the real and the virtual world. He explains the world to himself as an accumulation of Darwinistic misfortunes and it is not entirely obvious whether the world is gone mad or him.

Self-Sufficiency

Artists: Robert-Jan Verhagen & Theun Karelse
Location: IJhorst, The Netherlands

Robert-Jan Verhagen en Theun Karels act in the roles of twin brothers that live in a cottage in the middle of nowhere, which would be outside of IJhorst, a very small village somewhere in the north of The Netherlands. One brother (Theun) is completely obsessed by science and the idea that everything can be reduced to one formula. He would not be capable to survive the daily life without his twin brother (Robert-jan) who, on his turn, does not believe in anything and therefore sees life as one big game, even to the extension of death. It is the inner dialogue between ratio and emotion that is executed by them, which leads to conflict and disaster.

Lullaby For The Ruthless

Artists: Alberto de Michele & Guevara Solimen
Locations: Tokyo, Japan

Alberto de Michele and Guevara Solimen both travel individually through the labyrinth of Tokyo i.o.t. meet at a certain point. Both characters pretty much refuse to accept the common laws of society, one character (Alberto) in a more defensive, the other one (Guevara) in a more offensive way. It is a subtle game of playful aggressiveness that, to a certain extent, takes on homo-erotic forms.
