Count William II of Holland was elected Holy Roman Emperor in the 13th century, but was killed by the (West) Friesians before he could be crowned. When the Glorious House of Holland deceased, alien rulers penetrated and the people of Holland suffered under intruding Highnesses from Hinault, Bavaria, Austria, Spain, France and Germany. Nowadays Holland is divided over two provinces in the western part of the Netherlands. The present principal, from the futile House of Nassau-Dietz, is the richest woman in the world. Her royal power stretches over both Holland's, Friesland, nine other counties and 5 Caribbean islands. Capital of the Kingdom of the Netherlands is Amsterdam. It is in North Holland, though the capital of the province itself is the ancient city of Haarlem. The government is seated in the capital of the province of South Holland.
