Chekara (1931-1998) from Tetuan, Morocco
was one of the great favorites at MokumTV
of Amsterdam. Chekara kept the
traditional music of islamic Spain alive.
Just some time before his death, he gave
a concert at the Amsterdam
Meervaart-theater. In the audience the
king of yiddish music Leo Fuld, a great
admirer of Chekara and heavy influenced
by him on his last album The
Legend. More
