|Sultan Süleyman I the magnificent of Turkey (1494-1566) was persuaded by his concubine Roxelana (+1558) to have his two elder sons by another wife strangled. In 16th century Turkey regicide was one of the first acts of a new sultan, so these murders were the only option for Roxelana to ensure the survival of one of her own sons.|
