The RAF Air Cadets operate with two glider types. First there is the Viking TX1 (see above) and secondly there is the Vigilant T1. The main difference between these two is that the Viking does not have a propulsion method aboard where the Vigilant is a so called motor-glider with a small propeller engine in the nose.

Air Cadet units can be found throughout the United Kingdom. Each individual unit usually operates four gliders of the same type, however there are a couple of units with a higher number of aircraft on strength. The main glider base in the UK is RAF Syerston where two Volunteer Gliding Schools (VGS), the Central Gliding School (CGS) and the Central Glider Maintenance Flight (CGMF).
