"Holland Mania".

From Pilgrim Fathers to Henry Hudson. Touring through Amsterdam with all the things Holland and especially Amsterdam exported all over the world. A historical tour but we will also be visiting a souvenir shop offering all the new Holland Mania items. Visit the Engelse Kerk on the Begijnhof where you can trace the footsteps of the Pilgrim Fathers in Amsterdam. Your guide will tell you all about their journey, first to Leiden in 1609 and afterwards in 1620 on board the Mayflower to America, where they founded Plymouth Colony. We tour all over the city discovering typical export products of Amsterdam and Holland. such as the Dutch Republic, the Amsterdam canals, Anne Frank, Sinterklaas, Herring, Hugo Grotius and a lot more till we end our journey at the Schreierstoren. Four hundred years ago (1609) Henry Hudson started from Amsterdam harbour to discover Manna-hata and the river that would be named after him, claiming the territory for the Dutch Republic. Later Dutch colonists were  responsible for giving New-Amsterdam (New York) the typical tolerance which still exists in today's New York. Visit the website of Hudson 400. From May the 16th until the 30th of August 2009 there will be an exhibition about "Holland Mania" in Museum de Lakenhal
