Child too weak to hold cans
City of Clearwater City Commission Hearings, 1982   (in Realvideo)

And I was called in to help to audit this little boy because I had a good reputation as an auditor. So, I went there and I found this little boy. He had a hundred and five fever. He was unable to move his head and his neck. . . And I went there with my E-Meter and I had this little boy pick up the cans, he was too weak to hold the cans. So, I-- just didn't do it. I said, "This child is too sick to receive auditing. I think he should go to a doctor." The Medical Officer said, "Well" -- he had a medical book in which he looked up certain things. And he said, "I don't feel that he's in any danger. We'll see how he is tomorrow."

Don't talk around a sick Scientology child
Extract of Child Dianetics by L. Ron Hubbard

A goodswift kick in the shin of anybody talking around a sick child, or--almost any physical violence would be justifiable under the circumstances.

Delphi puts sick boy in solitary confinement.
Biased Journalism Volume, December 25, 1996

The boy was locked in a small room with no TV, no entertainment and no company, for almost the entire time. He was fed and an adult came to check on him a few times during the day. . . an ethics officer, who stood by while the child talked to his mother. The message was clear, "don't you dare complain."

Scientology -- Is this a Religion? (en Français / in Italiano)

Researchers always must be cautious in accepting as fact the account of a single person, but I heard similar stories about the condition of children's facilities in Scientology's child care program on the other side of the American continent -- Los Angeles, California. The person who related the account had occasion to visit the children's facility (called the Cadet Org) in the late 1970s or early 1980s, and she saw an infant who was the child of a man she knew. This child, she stated: was very, very ill and she was laying in a urine soaked crib and she was -- she just had her diaper on.... She had lots of like little fruit flies and gnats on her body and she had been so ill that she had tremendous amounts of mucous plugging her nose and her eyes were, like, welded shut with mucous and I, I just snapped in my head (Kent Interview with Pat, 1997: 34).

Blüm denounces Scientology
Hamburger Morgenpost of 4.12.96  (auf Deutsch)

There was said to have been numerous hygiene problems, according to Hamburg Sect Commissioner Ursula Caberta in an interview - from soiled bed sheets to cat droppings on the carpet. Only one over-worked custodian was seeing to the infants, some of whose eyes were infected with filth. Another sect kindergarten by the name of "Happy Kids" on Finkenau is under observation, and has received a warning from the Office for Youth.

Letter of Yolanda Howell to Dennis Erlich (auf Deutsch)

One woman's baby became very ill -- thin and colicky -- after using the Hubbard's "baby formula." We were not allowed to say it was bad, however. How I respected her for saying that it was hurting her baby and she was going to give him formula! He then recovered fully.

Testimony of Ginger Ross Breggin February 3, 1994

Child neglect and abuse issues: When I was training as AG Detroit at the USGO in 1974, I visited the Sea Org housing where the small children were cared for by nannies. These children lived in filthy, subnormal conditions. Many of them had multiple open sores and skin conditions.

Scientology's children
SP Times, 10-11 November 1991

Once, she recalls, "I actually had a fever, and then they said, `Well, before you call your mom to want to go home, I suggest you go down to the word-clearer (the person who helps students understand words) and find out if you have any problems in your study.' "

Scientology is child abuse
By Dennis Erlich

My youngest child nearly died shortly after birth because of scientology's distrust and unwillingness to get competent medical care for members. She spent the first several years of her life in a Sea Org nursery. I used to wonder why she would cry hysterically each morning when she was deposited in the facility. It was staffed by children, usually 12 to 16 years old, from the Cadet Org. The nannies had no sense of hygiene, and the children often suffered from infections, illnesses, fleas, lice, scabies or crabs. During all of this, I was so focused on my job in the Sea Org -- Chief Quality Control Officer in the brainwashing factory -- that until one day when I was changing my child's diaper and saw little white worms wiggling their way out of her anus, I didn't realize the abuse going on. Shortly after that I left the cult.

Why can't Scientology behave like a decent organization should, caring for its youth? Why does it have to violate the Universal Declaration of Human Right in pursuit of profit?

The answer lies with their founder L. Ron Hubbard, who made his word into law for scientologists. Scientology can not change therefor, not by themselves, it would be against all that is sacred for them to abandon the twisted ideas of child abuse which emanated from Hubbard. If we want to see a change in the organization's attitude toward children then it can only come from outward pressure. Get active, write your US representative, politicians, media and inform your friends. Spread the word!

What does the Declaration has to say about these inhuman Scientology practices?
