I spotted this faintly hilarious "definition" at the back end of a
Scientology lecture book:

  "NIPPED: engaged in nipping, a practice much beloved by thetans, 
  whereby they send out two energy streams, like hands, and slap 
  both sides of a victim's head. This mildly shocks a thetan to 
  which it is done. It can kill a MEST body. This slap is notable 
  for causing ringing in the ears. - Scientology: A History of Man."

Er, yes...
