PictureCooler. Put simply, PictureCooler can remove almost all noise from a picture without affecting detail - the holy grail of noise reduction (this is MY claim, not the developers). Lets keep it simple - if you and I can see what's detail and what's noise in a picture, why can't a software program do the same? Shouldn't a computer be better at this task than a human? Well, apparently PictureCooler can, and does. Once more, it does so without requiring any calibration or noise profiling. Why is this important? Well, it means it will work on any image you have, no matter what camera, what conditions, and what state of post processing the image is in. Take a picture from the web, tweak it in Photoshop to any degree, and then apply PictureCooler. Noise will be almost eliminated. PictureCooler's interface allows you to see the before/after state, at enormous magnifications, so it's very easy to see if details are being removed. Once more, PictureCooler contains one of the best sharpeners built in, so you can sharpen without adding any noise! I've tried every other noise reduction program out there, own Neat Image, and have developed 20 or so custom profiles, so it's not like I'm lazy. Incidentally, I believe that computers can, and will, extract detail from a photo that the human eye can't see. It's a task they are good at. Right now, PictureCooler and Photozoom can claim this. .
