| I have a Swedish mauser
rifle , made by the CARL GUSTAF factory in 1902. The serial number is
109.201 and it is all matching. It is known in Sweden as Gevär m/96b. The b stands for a threaded muzzle for the use of a blank/wooden ammo firing device. |
Ik bezit een Zweedse
mauser ,gemaakt door de CARL GUSTAF fabriek in 1902. De serienummer is
109.201. Alle onderdelen hebben dit nummer.
In Zweden is het bekend als Gevär m/96b. De b staat voor een loopmonding met schroefdraad,voor het bevestigen van een apparaat voor het gebruik van houten ammunitie en losse flodders. |
| Here we see the number 109.201 and on the left of it the letters K.B. These are the initials of the Inspection-officer (Besiktningsofficer) Konrad August Berglund. He was a captain in the 5th Artillery-Regiment and was the official Inspection Officer at the Carl Gustafs Stads Gevärsfactori from april 1 , 1902 until september 31 , 1905. | Hier zien we het serienummer 109.201 en links ernaast de letters K.B. | For direct access to the quality of
the rifle the Swedes usually screwed a metal disc to the butt. As you can
see this disc is divided in three. The top part with the numbers 2 3 4 5 9 0
1 will tell you the bore diameter. Normal bore diameter would be 6.50mm (0).
A small triangle above the 9 indicates the the bore diameter is 6.49mm.
A triangle above the 3 would indicate a bore diameter of 6.53mm. The second section on the right with the numbers 1 2 3 will indicate the condition of the bore. If there is no small triangle placed above a number , this will indicate that the bore is as good as new. 1 would mean VG etc. As the Swedes tended to look after their rifles very well, even a no.3 bore will be of good quality. There is no no.4 , as no.4. bores were discarded and replaced. The third section,below,indicates the difference between the point of AIM and the point of IMPACT when using a "Torped"(pointed) m/41 bullet. "Overslag" means - over , and "Str" is short for Streck,which is a unit for angles. 1 Streck is about 10cm at 100m. This means if you have a 3 stamped, you will hit 30cm above your point of aim at 100m. No number means that it is "dead-on". |
Om direct de qualiteit
van een geweer te kunnen beoordelen schroefden de Zweden een metalen
schijfje op de kolf. Zoals je kunt zien is het in drie delen verdeeld. Het
bovenste deel met de cijfers 2 3 4 5 9 0 1 vertellen je de diameter van je
loop. De normale diameter is 6,50mm (0). Een klein driehoekje boven de 9
geeft aan dat de diameter 6,49mm is. Een driehoekje boven de 3 zou betekenen
dat de diameter 6,53mm zou zijn. Het tweede gedeelte,rechts, met de cijfers 1 2 3 geeft aan hoe de conditie van de loop is. Als er geen driehoekje boven een cijfer is betekent dit dat de loop zo goed als nieuw is. 1 zou heel-goed betekenen,enz. Omdat de Zweden hun geweren heel goed onderhielden,betekent een 3 voldoende-goed. Een 4 komt niet voor omdat ze in deze conditie vervangen werden. Het derde gedeelte,beneden,geeft het verschil aan tussen RICHTPUNT en TREFPUNT bij gebruik van en "Torped"(spitse) m/41 kogel. "Överslag" betekent - over, en "Str" is een afkorting van Streck (een maat-eenheid voor hoeken). 1 Streck is ongeveer 10cm op een afstand van 100m. Dit betekent ...dat als er bv. een 3 gestempeld is, je trefpunt 30cm boven je richtpunt zal zitten op 100m. Geen cijfer betekent dat richt- en trefpunt overeenkomen. |
