In KIRCHHAIN he was very lucky in finding a good "patron" (Mr. Konrad Neebe) who treated him well. He was set up in a building about 50 meters from Mr.Neebe's "Sattlerei". This building was mostly very lightly or more or less NOT guarded,so the foreign laborers stationed there had quite some freedom compared to others. After a while they only had to report back at the end of the day,before curfew-time. Breakfast,lunch and dinner were mostly enjoyed at his "patron's"place. This sounds great,of course,but please bare in mind that Wladislaw as a "Ostarbeiter" was very restricted in his comings and goings. Poles were still regarded by most Germans as "Untermenschen" (inferior) and had no rights whatsoever.............
