Wladislaw worked in the "Sattlerei" of Mr.Neebe from the 14th of March 1940 until the 24th of February 1943. During thee three years he was allowed to write to his family only a couple of times. Only one photograph exists of this periode and no letters.
On the 24th of February 1943 he was transferred to the small village of HERTINGSHAUSEN,about 20 kilometers north of Kirchhain. Here he worked as a farm-hand under the "patronage" of Mr. and Mrs. BOUCSEIN. He was quite well treated for a "Ostarbeiter". The records show that he was arrested in May 1943 and spent 4 days (7 - 10 May) in prison in the city of Marburg. The cause was not indicated,but it must have been a very minor one because usually "Ostarbeiter" were severely punished for even small infringements of the law.
