RENARD OIL
Comment from Tony Dean (UK)
6000 mls ago I flushed my system thro' on the XM with hydraflush leaving it in for 500 mls and then replaced it with "the blue oil" which was obtained from the following address. The difference is amazing. I was given this stuff to try and can seriously recommend it, it out performs LHM+ by miles.

Hi everybody
Some of you may remember that my '92 BX TZD Turbo suffered from instable height regulation. While it found its proper riding hight at atand still, its rear suspension filled until it became stiff while the front lowered slightly while driving.
The first measure some 30.000 km ago was to replace the bronce bearing of the rear regulation mechanism by a precise and durable solution. Because I couldn't reach that bearing on the front axle, I didn't change this at the same time. The result was much better but still not satisfactory.
I then had long discussions with some mechanics that told me to replace half a litre or LHM by ordinary motor oil. They said, some six years ago Citroen had changed their fluid to one with lower viscosity (for the Xantia?) and that older constructions had problems since. The motor oil would add lubrification that prevented the regulators from sticking. With that argument in mind I filled in an additif called Olykon. Its ingredients remain unclear but it lubricates similar to products containing PTFE. This cocktail cured my BX entirely and I didn't see anything that could possibly be improved by another product. This happened 20.000 km ago.
After having tested many additifs and oils such as MultiMiles or Slick50, I didn't expect much of the Renard oil. It would work - that much was clear. But improve anything? No!
5.000 km back I had the LHM replaced by the blue liquid (http://people.a2000.nl/rveltk/renard.html). The filter was almost clean of dirt. The car seemed to be a bit softer, run a bit smoother but not really differently. The suspension of the turbo versions are derived from the GTi versions. They won't ever feel like a sofa. Anyway, there are a few proves that the Renard oil is superior to the Olykon/LHM mixture which was already much better than standard LHM: the pump works quieter, the car lifts faster and - don't ask me why - it doesn't sink as quickly as before. The pressure now lasts for almost 2 days until the
car lies flat on the floor. This took only ten hours before.
So, Folks, if you want do something good to your Citroen of any age or model, replace that LHM by something better. I recommend the Renard oil. Even Citroen knows that LHM has no future and will replace it for the C5 or at latest for the C6.
