This study analyses the work of Arkoun in the context of modern philosophy and in exploring so-called liberal interpretations of Islam. I confront Arkoun with sheikh Yassine of Morocco who as an 'islamist' is an antipode of Arkoun who fights 'fundamentalism'.

This study was print-ready to publish after being approved by the publishers "Harmattan" in Paris (France) and "Afrique-Asie" in Casablanca (Morocco).

But Arkoun was not pleased by my scientific critics
and so he threatened the publishers to boycott them if they dared to publish the book...!
He refused even to write for them a critical introduction!

My study evaluates also the interpretation-projects of Hassan Hanafi, Mohamed Abid el-Jabri and among others Farid Esack - a friend of Mandela.

Farid Esack offers a kind of political “liberation theology” by applying notions of justice and equality to the conditions of oppressed and exploited people - Arkoun on the contrary is a conservative liberal and not a socialist. But his intellectual efforts for a renewal of Islam as a modern up-to-date belief are very important.

The appendix gives a summary of orientalist research with special attention to Jewish founders of Islamology as Goldziher. The 310 pages are printed on high quality paper.

My intention has been to participate in the discussions of Muslims about the inspiring role of Islam in to-day society.

I believe that that I am the first Dutchman in the history of the Netherlands who takes part in the discussion in Arab language about the for Arabs most important subject, that of their religion. It is a pity that up till now I never received any answer by means of my in the study mentioned email-adress.
