About the Shaman series
The
work can best be explained as visionary. For twenty years I have been
a
practitioner of SHAMANISM.
Both as an artist and as a path to inner knowledge.
Many
of the paintings and objects have been inspired by dreams and visions
I
had experienced during trance journeys.
In
June 1993, I returned to my native land, America after having lived in Europe
Traveling through the southwest, the area known as "Four Corners" was an
unforgettable experience for me, and a great source of inspiration for my work. There, on the canyon walls,
on, the rocks and the caves, The art of the shaman was born, recorded there by ancient civilizations.
Many
of the images and symbols coincided with my own personal experiences
and
visions in the trance state. My art has always been a journey for me
to discover who I am, and my
connection
Most
of the pigments I use are natural earth colors, which can be found in the
desert and canyons of the south western United States.
The paintings exhibited here
are acrylic on canvas, and paper.
