Specialized in classical indian and jazz music, Ranajit Sengupta is a sarod player that plays cross-over and traditional music with unequalized speed and tranquility. It will be a great opportunity for many musiclovers to listen to his cds and to see him perform when he comes over for a tour with his kyabaat group.
Though too young to be called a legend, RANAJIT SENGUPTA (sarod) occupies a respectable place in the hearts of the followers of Indian music and string instruments throughout the world. From his adolescence, Ranajit, a child prodigy in sarod under his teachers Dhyanesh Khan and Ashish Khan, established himself as one of the best musicians of this generation.
Together with the guitarist DANIEL LÜDKE from Hamburg they form the musical basis for the sound of Kyabaat , with mutual respect for western and oriental styles. Daniel uses different guitars in special tunings. He is specialized in world, jazz and classical styles. Kyabaat combines odd and even measures with incredible ease and originality, supported by electric bass and Indian tabla.
This group has been mentioned for a Grammy-nomination in the category Best Instrumental World Music.
