| This page contains a small sample of black and white photographs of New York (architecture, museums, parks, churches, art, reportage). I photographed Manhattan and Brooklyn in an assignment of Dutch publisher AGON (Amsterdam). Three hundred images were reproduced to illustrate the Dutch edition of 'Companion Guide to New York' by Michael Leapman. Images of New York were later reproduced in books, newspapers and magazines and finally in the international edition of the 'Companion Guide' published by Brewer&Boydell (London, 2000). My archive contains many color slides of New York and night photographs of the city. |

Back in 1993, Zbigniew Kosc departed for New York to illustrate a book about the city. The plan was in only two weeks to document the famous buildings and landmarks in a classic black and white style reminiscent of Bernice Abbott. But he was soon overtaken by the city and things changed. The historical documents became filled with atmosphere creating a film-like style reflecting the true emotions and energy of New York City; a place both lively and lonely, both dark and monumental.
