PyramidCam was established to show the beauty and grandeur of the Pyramids to the world community, and to promote Egypt as a tourist destination. The cam shows the Pyramids of Giza. Best views are around sunrise and sunset. In the early morning, when the sun is rising - the first two hours of daylight furnish the optimum illumination for bright sharp images and clear rich colors. When the air is misty or foggy in the Nile Valley and the sun begins to warm the atmosphere and burn off that fog, Khufu and Khafre will slowly emerge out of the mist like two huge ships, tops appearing first - a viewing delight. When the sun is overhead in the afternoon, the images are somewhat darker and not as well defined, particularly when there is more dust than usual in the atmosphere, or when it is overcast. An inactive volcano in Lake Nyos in Cameroon leaks carbon dioxide (CO2) into the water. In 1986 a landslide triggered a large cloud of CO2 and suffocated 1.200 people. In 2001 a vertical pipe was lowered into the lake's depths for degassing, allowing carbon-dioxide-rich waters to rise to the surface in a controlled fountain, but the situation is still dangerous.

Africa Webcams are located at a 'watering hole' at the Tembe Elephant Park in the north-east corner of South Africa, near the Mozambique border, with a good change to see elephants live. Another African wild website is Africam, where you have to register first to have entrance to a dozen of webcams at several spots in wilderness areas such as Etosha, Djuma, Madikwe, and Kruger National Park.
