The Twin Towers of World Trade Center are terrible missing in the skyline of New York City, here (2) provided by the Haze Cam Pollution Visibility Camera Network from Newark (New Jersey). Purpose of CamNet is to raise public awareness about the effects of air pollution on visibility. Left image (1), made at Sun Rise, May 15 2001, has 'ideal conditions'. The view looks towards lower Manhattan in New York City, about ten miles distant. In the foreground stands the historic Jackson Street Bridge over the Passaic River. September 11, 2001 the New York World Trade Center was destroyed in a terrorist attack against World Trade Center, Humanity and Liberty. The terrorists attack at the New York World Trade Center destroyed the world famous skyline of 'the Big Apple'.

(1) Since the removing of the remains of the New York World Trade Center the Ground Zero Cam of EarthCam shows live images of the recovery. A time-lapse sequense of the recovery between September 26, 2001 and March 26, 2002, is showed from the archive.
(2) NASA's Earth Observatory has publiced this picture, made by Landsat 7 satellite on September 12, 2001, at roughly 11:30 a.m. Eastern Daylight Savings Time. Click here for large, very detailed (2048 x 2048 pixels) image.
(3) The Statue of Liberty in 1875 was a gift of France for the USA with the title "Liberty Enlightening the World".
