Reglisse du Hameau du Frotigny was born on May 17, 2000, ( I call her Frenchie). Her mother’s name is Marquise du Bois des Tilles and she comes from the home of Robert Chateau and his son Laurent, breeders in the region of Frotigny, France.
I discovered the Griffon Bleu de Gascogne through the internet and thanks to the help of my friend Ben Berth found  the address of Laurent and Robert Chateau.  After Ben’s return from Bretagne, and a few e-mail exchanges, we were ready to go pick up Frenchie in Frotigny, France. Although I had never seen her before I had already chosen her name.

The Griffon Bleu almost disappeared in the 1970’s but thanks to the efforts of a small group of  avid Griffon Bleu lovers , they are making a comeback. In order to create new bloodlines, the Griffon Bleus were taken from the hunters for replacement.
Madeleine de Haas is the representative for the Benelux, and thanks to the efforts of  her and her husband is there a good homepage about the Bleus.

The relationship between a dog and its owner grows stronger through this kind of work. The owner learns how to read his dog. It is possible to determine if the dog has the right scent, just by being in-tune to her body language. The relationship strengthens in this regard, and in some ways,  they develop a sort of symbiotic relationship.

Furthermore, Frenchie is a great dog who makes me laugh and smile. She loves nothing more than going bicycling, or taking a nice long walk in the forest. She is very independent, as most (tracking)hounds are, and very alert for intruders. Her melodious bark can resonate through the house when she sees or hears something out of the ordinary. In April, 2003, I went to the France, with my friend Ben, to  have her mate with another wonderful dog, Nestor des Rives de la Garonne. The puppies were born on the tenth of June in 2003.
rUrsus and Philippe came back to us. Ursus recevied a lot of love and Philippe was treated more badly but both of them are happy and good dogs and theu're about to stay with us.
