DUPLO |
The DUPLO brick (since 1997 LEGO prefers to use the word 'DUPLO Element') has sides twice as long as a regular 2x4 LEGO brick (hence the name 'DUPLO') thus 8 times bigger. The element was 1967 invented and patentented, and in 1969 introduced.
Thanks to the hollow studs, the element can be combined with the regular brick.
The earliest DUPLO sets bear the numbers 510 and 511. In 1974 the DUPLO wheelsets were introduced (sets 530-532), in 1977 the DUPLO figure was introduced that was replaced in 1983 by DUPLO figures with arms and legs. |
