FABULAND A series with big elements and animal characters. The building instructions were in the form of a story. Introduced in 1979 and (sadly) discontinued in 1989. In 2000 the 'Mickey Mouse' playsets saw the reappearance of many FABULAND elements.

Freestyle Product series within the System product line. LEGO Freestyle was designed to stimulate creativity. The sets contain various basic building bricks and some special elements (windows, wheels, minifigures etc.) The name "Freestyle" was introduced in 1995 to replace the name "LEGO BASIC". 1974-1981 Large LEGO figures with moveable arms and expressions on their faces. The body was made out of regular bricks. Homemaker
1975-1979 Minifigures without moveable limbs and no expression on their faces. The minifig was made out of 4 parts (legs, body, head and headwear) and decorated with stamps LEGOLAND
1978-1983 Big figures without any limbs but with different expressions on their faces. 3 Parts (body, head and headwear) DUPLO
1979-1989 Figures with many different animalheads. 7 parts: head, neck, body, 2 moveable arms (hands fixed to the arms) and 2 moveable legs. FABULAND
1979-present The minifig as we know it today. Early minifigures had decoration by means of stamps and only one expression (the 'classic smiley') individual expressions since 1989. 10 Parts: headwear, head, body-top, 2 moveable arms, 2 hands, body-bottom, 2 moveable legs. SYSTEM
