MONKEY
I have had a dog since I was a few feet high
- I had a cat once too, but her nails were too
long for my liking *grin* - so I stuck to
dogs. My first dog was a dog of an undefined
breed called Monkey. He got to be an
admirable age: 16. I still have great memories
of him ..... we discovered the world
together ... me growing up ... him growing old.
He wasn't the most beautiful dog ..... but O
boy, he was the greatest dog !!
We got in a lot of mischief together *grin* .........

MAX
Once I got married, we first bought a Golden
Retriever called Max. Max was already
one and a half year old when we did. The
people who bought him as a puppy were living
in an tiny apartment - and Max was too
enthusiastic for a small place like that - so
they took him back to the breeder he came
from. We were there to pick out a puppy, but
when I saw Max he stole my heart
...... and I felt sorry for him. At first he was not
easy to handle but once he learned and
listened he turned out to be my biggest pall.
He liked to swim, get all dirty and smelly,
play on the lawn, walk through the
forest with us, catch hedgehogs, chew his
bones and now and again be just plain
lazy .... *grin*. In times of trouble
he always knew what was wrong ... he would
put his head on my knees and look at me like
he understood ..........
Max always has been a good sod .....
playful, merry, big hearted and very loyal.
He was born on December 23rd 1981 - he had a
good life in which we took care
of each other - and I had to say goodbye to
him on Christmas eve 1997.
It wasn't easy to do that .... but he lives
on in my memories ........ catching
rabbits, mice and hedgehogs in the ever
lasting hunting grounds. I miss you
pumpkin - thanks for your friendship pall ................

SNOOPY
A year after we had bought Max, we thought
he needed some company so we
went to a Belgian pet shop. We wanted to get
Max a SMALL friend. Once inside
the store it wasn't easy to pick one
out - until I saw a mixtured breed; a crossbreed
between a Chow Chow and a black Labrador. He
was born somewhere in May 1984
and he had the build of a Chow Chow and the
colour of the Labrador and what struck
me more: his tongue looked like he had been
eating lucorich ... *grin* ..... so he had
a spotted tongue! His paws were quite big
..... but I didn't tell my husband that I
expected him to grow that BIG ....... *lol*
One year later my husband told me:
"Next time you have some smart
suggestions concerning SMALL dogs .....
don't tell me anymore !!! " I called
him Snoopy - the same as the dog from the
comic Charlie Brown - and because he is
always sniffing around ...... He and
Max became friends instantly; the first
thing Snoopy did when we brought him
home was to cuddle up next to Max and since
that day they were inseparatable
mates! Max taught Snoopy everything a male
dog needs to know *grin*. Snoopy is
a quiet dog, slow in motion, is lazy, hates
water, is easy to scare and very nosey
at times (Chow Chow character) - but
now and again his Labrador breed shows and
he gets very enthusiastic and needs a BIG hug.........
Snoopy survived Max for a while and he had a
good time together with Fleur, but
with Easter it was his time to go. For as
far as we know he had a cyste in his
tummy - it was very sore. Our veterinarian
advised us to put him to sleep on
April 24th 2000. So we said our last
goodbeyes to him and gave him a last big
hug ..... and sent him off to join his best
friend Max. It will take us a while to get
used to the fact that he won't be waiting
for us at the bottom of the stairs when
we get out of our beds ... or at the door
when we get home .... or begging at the
table for some yummies ....... Snoopy was
nearly was 16 years old when we had
to part. All those years it has been a joy
to have Snoopy as our friend .... Farewell
my big cuddly teddybear ..... you're a
forever friend from both of us ;o))

WEST HIGHLAND
WHITE TERRIERS
FLEUR
On April 17th 1996 my biggest treasure was
born. I saw an advertisement in a
newspaper from people who were selling West
Highland White Terrier puppies.
It was a nest of 3 puppies, 1 male and 2
female. The family wanted to keep
1 female; the one who was last born and
caused them the most worries because
she was so tiny and ill at first. At that
time Max was growing old and I hated the
thought of Snoopy being all alone in the
house while I was working. This time I got
to my senses and really bought a SMALL doggy
and a female one. I called her
Fleur which means flower in French; she was
a white woolly and tiny bundle of
joy and as beautiful as a flower ....... In
the beginning it was hard taking 3 dogs
out for a walk - Fleur couldn't keep up with
the 2 big dogs, but I found a solution
for that! I had an old pouch-handbag which I
hung around my shoulder and then
I put Fleur in it; hanging out her 2 front
legs and her head looking curious at the
new world. Once I got to the forest I would
let the big dogs from their leash and
then take Fleur out of the bag to train her.
My entire neighbourhood knew I had
bought a new puppy ...... especially the
kids! They would come out in hordes and join
me when I would walk my doggies
*grin*. They watched Fleur grow from day to day.
Fleur was adopted by my two other dogs from
day one and they became her guardian
angels! They protected her from danger,
played with her in and around the house
and washed her on a regular basis. Max was a
great grandpa to her; she would hang
on his ears, legs and tail and he wouldn't
give as much as a wimp! Later on Max got to
old for that - which Fleur understood, so
she left him alone and went her own way.
After Max died she developed to be the
leading lady in the house; she has lots of
character you don't wanna mess around with
*grin* so now and again she needs a
correcting hand / word. Like most Westies
she's wants to discover everything,
is naughty sometimes, very playful, but most
of the time she's just plain adorable ...
especially when she's asleep *grin* (so
she's very much like me *lol*) Her favourite
toys are: her stuffed animal - her red
bouncing ball - and her squeaky rubber
weightlifting toy. She can drive us crazy
sometimes with these toys; asking for our
attention / wanting to play with her, or
stumbling over them everywhere in
the house - nearly breaking our neck !! But
we wouldn't want to miss
her for the world ..........
BIZOU
Johan and I had actually already agreed to
get her a female Westie playmate.
We also finally decided on her name: Bizou
(French for kiss). But was not easy to
buy a Westie puppy with a pedigree in
Holland ..... we were on a waitinglist for 2 or 3
litters for some time. Finally we struck
gold and with some luck we were able to pick
her up at the end of September 2000. Her
full pedigree name turned out to be:
Charming Bizou of My Choice and
she was born on June 21rst 2000.
The lady who did an excellent job breeding
her is Anja van Bakel, who also
ownes the doggies beautysalon "Vanity
Fair" (for further information follow
the doggynet link) .
So now we have a new furry wobly puppy
running around in our home
and garden .... discovering new things every
day ... playing and fooling around
with Fleur. She's a fresh wind swirling in
our house .... and hopefully she will bare
some puppies at a later age. And she's
turning out to be quit a character ... *grins*
and has already caught lots of respect from
Fleur ... and a place in our hearts ;o))
She's already had her first trimming and has
good prospects to be a showdog.
We will have to wait and see if she'll be
behaving well enough to take part in one.
Right now all she has to do is to grow and
have fun! At nine weeks her weight was
1,2 kg ... at 12 weeks it had grown to 3 kg.
Bizou is raised on Hills dry food
and freshly boiled musclemeat with
vedgetables & rice. It takes some time to
prepare fresh food ..... but my experience
with it is really great! Besides that ....
they both love it .... sometimes their
entire heads dissapear in their bowls ... *lol*
