Some
time ago now I started to develop my own cross stitch patterns ..
some totally from scratch! It's
escalating more
and
more each day ... at first they were from copyright
free
scans from advertising flyers that are spread from
door
to door (which have NO copyrights in the Netherlands
for
as far as I know ... but please correct me if I'm wrong !) Scanning,
tubing and arranging them in a manner in Paint
Shop
Pro that I could create a copyright free basic image
to
import into my Pattern Maker Pro ... and make my
own
cross stitch patterns from them. I've made several ...
of
which I'm adding some pattern examples from:
- Alpha's
-
PSP tubing arrangements
-
hand & computer drawings
-
coloured copyright free b & w images
&
free hand cross stitch patterns
which
I've made over a period of time
onto
this page. They are all resized
75%
or more.
As
you can see I have a preference for art deco, antiques
and
nostaligia :O))) ... maybe it's the child within me that's mermering
about & yearning for the old cozy times that
used
to be - when I was a very young and life was
so
easy and carefree .....

I've
baptised
"forget me not

for the obvious
reasons
;o) ... converted

Since
I've become a moderator to the cross-stitch patterns newsgroup at
the Annexcafe Newsgroup server it has developed into a crazy
occupational deformation ... *lol*. It's becoming a
habbit
to be the first to snag
the flyers that fall into our letterbox, running around with my
digital camera all day long shooting all the pretty pictures I can of
anything, drawing my own black & white basic images to scan,
taking my graphpaper & colouringstuff and doodling free hand,
snagging all kinds of images in the Annex newsgroups I can get my
hands on, browsing the internet again and again for stuff ... and
last but not least ... just opening my PMP & picking out some
shades to work with and make a pattern free handed ! ANYTHING ...
just to create my own patterns .....

a pattern |
I
haven't got a clue if my patterns would be any good
commercially
or if they could provide me with my daily
bread
& butter :O/ It's a risky bussiness in my country ...
and
an even bigger step to take by become a proffesional designer !
There's loads to think of like registering as
a
company, making a bussiness plan, establishing good
banking
contacts & agreements, insurances,
bookkeeping,
the printing & distribution of my
patterns,
paying taxes on earnings etc. etc. etc. So
I'll
just wait and see what my creations will develop into
...
before plunging into the deepest end ;O)
You
could say I'm a calculating Dutchie ... *lol*
but
my mother taught me that it's better to be
safe
than sorry .......

Since
August 2003 I've been searching high and low for a
method
to create the perfect basic
graphics in Paint Shop
Pro
for my cross stitch patterns. After loads of surfing,
following
several tutorials and many hours of doodling on
my
own I finally succeeded :O)) ! You want to find out how ??
Join
us at the Annexcafe cross-stitch patterns newsgroup and
I'll
be happy to teach you ;O))) Making your own cross stitch
patterns
then soon will become a piece of cake ... *grins *
Here's
a preview of the first few patterns made with
this
special technique ..... totally made from scratch !!!!

What
started initially as purely having fun crafting is now
becoming
a daily routine and has changed into a plan to
make
my own patterns which
can be sold as patterns or
as
stitched items at Dutch arts & crafts fairs in the
near
future. This sounds like a reasonable SAFE and
sensible
plan to me ... for NOW ... *lol* Maybe it's also
because
I'm a bit afraid the fun will dissapear when it's
turning
into a real proffession ... or even worse: getting
a
creative blockage because of the pressure :O((
(the
biggest fear for any artist or crafter !)
