John Barrett worked for the Abbeyroad studios in the eighties, when he realised he had cancer he decided to take things a little slower. He wanted to work but couldn't keep up with the pace. Therefore they decided to give him something to do without any time presure: Research every Beatle recording available, and make them into a kind of cattalogue. As things went ahead, E.M.I. realised he had found a lot of interesting recordings, and they decided to use some of them in a special Abbey road show.Later this emerged in the session project, wich we all know was cancelled after it was almost finished.
John Barrett used to keep some kind of guiding line of his research on cassettes.After John Barrett died, someone got hold of those cassettes, and sat on it for a long time, though some stuff was released on various bootlegs, the most of it was never released ,or in much worser sound quality. This"Turn me on dead man" is a Very Exciting Set,with lots of new stuff with supurb sound taken from those Barrett cassettes.
