The Rescue Angel
January 30-2007 Hurtigruten vessel NORDKAPP stranded on a submerged embankment near Deception Island in the South Shetland archipelago with 294 passengers and 76 crew today. Sister ship NORDNORGE has arrived to transfer the stranded passengers back to Ushuaia.
November 23-2007: Press reports have the dramatic story of 1969-built MS EXPLORER sinking off Argentina's coast in the Antarctic Ocean after striking an iceberg. All 154 passengers and crew have been safely evacuated to 11,386 gt NORDNORGE by life rafts.
Since sept.2008 already has been tied up at Åndalsnes. Due to bad results of Hurtigruten.

Hurtigruten ASA has entered a letter of intent with Aker Solutions ASA for hire of one vessel for the purpose of providing accommodation on an offshore project in the Mediterranean. Final contract is under completion - and will be finalized during week 51 2008. The letter of intent covers a period of hire until 5 April 2009, with subsequently options of prolongation.
