In the TerraTone Studio we use harddisk recording and 4-track tape recording to register our sounds. The heart of the
studio is the old tube guitar amplifier aka the Ekosonic Amplifier that carries the Yamaha RM1x sequence remixer The Yamaha RM1x controls the whole midi setup assisted by the Emagic AMT8 midi patchbay with 8-ins and 8-outs. The sounds are being produced by various instruments. The guitars that are used are an Ibanez ST200 electric guitar, a Yamaha APX-4A acousto-electric guitar and an Aria ProII bass guitar. The guitars are recorded through the Line-6 POD2.0 direct box. The drums originate from samples or the Alesis HR16B drum machine. As a midi keyboard we use a QuickShot Midi Composer keyboard. A Yamaha AN1x analog physical modeling synthesizer is used. The FM sounds are synthesized using the Yamaha FS1R. Accidently a very old analog Elka Rhapsody 490 synth is used. The Access Virus Indigo (version two) is the masterpiece of all the gear being used in our studio. A Yamaha A4000 sampler is producing sampled sounds of the beforementioned instruments. A SCSI interface is being used to transfer samples from A to B and back. A windows based PC P4-1500MHz running Soundforge and ACID is being used to mix down the tracks digitally. A Marantz PMD 740 4-track recorder is used as a 8-channel mixer and to analog tape the studio sounds.
The TerraTone recordings are very diverse but can generally be classified from electronica, dance music to guitar
terror in the alternative pop genre.
