In de Gelderse Poort waren er Romeinse
versterkingen (Castellum) bij Herwen (Carvium), Loowaard,
Castra Hercules (Meinerswijk bij Arnhem), Nijmegen (Hunerberg
en Kops Plateau), Xanten (bij Kleef) en bij Elst een
tempel, gewijd aan Hercules Magusanus. |
