WCTS III

It has been a while but the Stratego Club Napoleon woke up after a (long) sleep.

The plan is to prepare a player for the upcomming Worldchampionship of Stratego 2009.
More info about the WC 2009 can be found here: WC 2009

We deceided that it's a wise idea to continue the WCTS's (World Championship Training Sessions) which we started in the spring of 2004.

WCTS I was held in "the Dedra House" The location itself still excist but is now known as "Lybra's Liar"
WCTS II took place in a dark and sober environment: "the Brown Caves"
And right here the famous battles were written into the history books of Stratego.
Some manipulated pictures of WCTS II can be spotted...

Napoleon's 2008 Stratego succeses

In the junior competition Peter Verleijsdonk and Collin Sikteoeboen participated. Collin lost only once (to Peter) and Mister Verleijsdonk took down 7 victorys to maintain his title.
Peter has now 4 junior National titles, next year he can mix up with the seniors.
Collin ended up runner-up.
Very good result boys!!

The complete results of the Junior tournament can be found here:
NK 2008 Junior players.

Due to different reasons (work, no motivation, holidays, other appointments, etc) only 1 Napoleon member travelled to Utrecht. The accomodation was perfect, excellent organized.
Our Napoleon friend participated in numerous Stratego tourneys through the years, winning several, climbing the ranking. He got the title Master of Stratego twice.
He did very well in his World Championships:
8 times he participated; 6 times in the Top 10!! Playing Stratego tourneys since DAY 1.
He wanted (and deserved) the title of Dutch Champion.

After more then 15 years, on November 29th 2008, he beated the field of 36.
Well meaned congratiulations to:
Wim Sikteoeboen

The crosstables and standings of the Senior Championships here:
NK 2008 Senior players.

With just a few appearances in the scene the Napoleonmembers
Peter Verleijsdonk and Wim Sikteoeboen
managed to show their skills in the Dutch National Championships.
We will try to form a team for the Team Cup if this is competition is organized in 2009.

September 20th

Napoleon Club Championships 2008

8 members participated in the Rijpelberg residence, home of the family Sikteoeboen.

Eager to take win this tournament for the first time in their career:
Peter Verleijsdonk, Peter Vissers, Wim Verleijsdonk, Paul van Asseldonk, Mark van der Linden.
Johnny van Geffen is recordholder with 5 titles! Luc Adriaansen with four titles (and defending champion) and Wim Sikteoeboen who tasted the sweet victory three times.

First round: Johnny vs Wim S: Johnny wins. Luc defeates Wim V where Wim gambled his way back in the game 4 times. Fiftt gamble was a bomb.
The next round: Wim V, Wim S and Johnny won. Game Mark vs Luc was a draw.
Third round: Johnny vs Luc...last one wins, Mark lost his match against Wim S.
Fourth round: Johnny beats Peter Vissers, Wim S let the victory to Wim V, Paul wins the game with Mark and Luc defeated the young gun Peter V.
So at the beginning of the final round this was the situation:

Luc 3 wins, 1 draw. Johnny 3 wins, 1 loss. Johnny plays Paul and must win, and hope that Luc will not beat Wim S.
Johnny took down Pauls flag.
But Luc was able to claim the victory in his game against Wim S.

So the name of the 2008 Club Champion is:
Luc Adriaansen. Four times in a row club Champion (2005 - 2008)
Second place for Johnny [4 wins - 1 loss] and third Wim S [2 wins - 3 loss]

Jack Winters

Jack tegen Wim S.

Jack overkijkt de situatie.

Stratego Team Cup 2007

With 10 team of 4 players each participating I consider the Team Cup 2007 as a big succes.
Also because Napoleon managed to win this competition for the fifth time.
Napoleon members in the team:
Peter Verleijsdonk, Mark van der Linden, Wim Sikteoeboen and Luc Adriaansen.
With 3 wins and 3 draws (as a team) we could stay just ahead of The Baronnen I and The Vaandeldragers.

Luc, Wim, Peter and Mark.

Januari 6th

Napoleon Club Championships 2007

Held at home of the family van der Linden 8 members participated.

Present and ready to take win this tournament for the first time in their career:
Peter Verleijsdonk, Peter Vissers, Wim Verleijsdonk, Roel Verleijsdonk, Mark van der Linden.
Luc Adriaansen and Johnny van Geffen managed to win three times the Club Championships, Wim Sikteoeboen is five times the best.

First round: Luc vs Wim S: Draw. Johnny defeates Roel...
The next round: Peter Vissers, Wim Sikteoeboen, Luc and Johnny won.
Third round: Johnny - Wim S draw, Mark won and Luc defeates Wim V. Peter Verleijsdonk manage to find Peter Vissers' flag.
Fourth round: Johnny, Wim S and Luc had a victory.
So at the beginning of the final round this was the situation:
Johnny and Luc 3 won, 1 draw. Wim S 2 win, 2 draws. Johnny plays Luc and Wim S plays Peter Vissers.
Peter couldn't stop Wim...
But the game Johnny - Luc was a thriller. Luc was fast a captain ahead, but Johnny hitted the known general but lost the marshall to Luc's spy.
When Luc a bit later on could kill a colonel (which murdered one of his majors) with the marshall the game looks over. [Luc: Marshall, 2 colonels, 2 majors, 4 captains. Johnny: General, colonel, 3 majors, 2 captains] But Johnny had the low level army, sargeants - miners - scouts.
Luc sends a major to the front who gekilled buy the colonel.. later on colonel who kills colonel :-(
At the end Johnny pushes forward with a bunch of unknown pieces towards the (suspected) flag.

The marshall does the defending but the spy still is in the game. The last hit was a bit of a lucky hit, Luc killed the spy in front of his marshall and stop the 2nd piece, which was a miner ready to get the flag.
Close, very close with a good choice (or is THIS called the luck-factor?!) by Luc and the very end.

He won, and the name of the 2007 Club Champion is:
Luc Adriaansen.
Second place for Wim S [3 wins - 2 draws] and third Johnny van Geffen [3 wins - 1 draw - 1 lost]

Clash report

With a team of 5 our Schnuffel friends travelled abroad to the Dutch village of "Bladel"
Arriving in German soccer outfits we had the feeling they wanted to watch the World Cup football game after the Clash. The German flag found its way on the balcony, disturbing the normal day routing of the inhabitants of Bladel.

Matthias Ruch, Klaus Matern, Jan Raffelt, Mark Blockhaus and Frank van Thiel formed the Schnuffel Team. While Roel Verleijsdonk, Wim Sikteoeboen, Mark van der Linden and Luc Adriaansen defended the colors for the Napoleon Crew.

In the first 5 editions the cup was won by the visiting team. (2001 Napoloen won in Germany, 2002 Schnuffel won in Holland, etc..)

This year these are the results:

1st round
Wim Verleijsdonk - Mark Blockhaus 0 - 1
Luc Adriaansen - Matthias Ruch 0 - 1
Roel Verleijsdonk - Frank van Thiel 1 - 0
Wim Sikteoeboen - Klaus Matern 1 - 0

2nd round
Mark van der Linden - Klaus Matern 0 - 1
Luc Adriaansen - Frank van Thiel 1 - 0
Roel Verleijsdonk - Mark Blockhaus 1 - 0
Wim Sikteoeboen - Jan Raffelt 1 - 0

3rd round
Mark van der Linden - Jan Raffelt 0 - 1
Luc Adriaansen - Klaus Matern 1 - 0
Roel Verleijsdonk - Matthias Ruch 1 - 0
Wim Sikteoeboen - Frank van Thiel 1 - 0

4th round
Mark van der Linden - Frank van Thiel 1 - 0
Luc Adriaansen - Mark Blockhaus 1 - 0
Roel Verleijsdonk - Jan Raffelt 1 - 0
Wim Sikteoeboen - Matthias Ruch 0 - 1

5th round
Mark van der Linden - Matthias Ruch 0 - 1
Luc Adriaansen - Jan Raffelt 1 - 0
Roel Verleijsdonk - Klaus Matern 0 - 1
Wim Sikteoeboen - Mark Blockhaus 1 - 0

Final result Napoleon 13, Schnuffel 7.

Four players can be called "the best-of-the-day"
Matthias Ruch, Wim Sikteoeboen, Roel Verleijsdonk and Luc Adriaansen.
All this 4 wins and 1 lost game.

After the Stratego we all watched the football game Germany - Sweden

Sweden got the honour to kick off 3 times in 15 minutes making it and easy "walk-over" for the Germans.
The hardest part for us was eating the pile of pizza's in the halftime interval.

The conclusion of this nice day was:
Napoleon 13
Schnuffel 7
Germany 2
Sweden 0

So there were 3 winners and just one loser..

Picture this! Or check the Picture Garden of this site.

June 21st

September 19th

10th Napoleon Open

Wim Sikteoeboen, 2-voudig masters winnaar, won liefst drie keer!

But the 3 place overall was our share. Vaandeldragers I ended second. The best team is called Baronnen I. Team members Vincent de Boer, Norman Koks, Tim Slagboom and Wout Gulden. Here are some pictures.

Januari 9th

Napoleon Club Championships 2005 Held at home at Peter Visser's place 7 members participated. Roel Verleijsdonk stayed sick at home, but present were: Luc Adriaansen, Paul van Asseldonk, Peter Vissers, Wim Verleijsdonk, Mark van der Linden. Also three times winner of the Club championships: Johnny van Geffen and five time winner Wim Sikteoeboen.

First round: Wim S had a bye, all other games ended in a draw... The next round were nice (or not so nice) to watch but the standing just before the last round learned us that there are still 5 (!) players who could win the tourney. But Luc would have enough to win if he could drawed his game versus Mark. After 55 minutes Mark claimed a draw but that was enough for Luc Adriaansen . He became the next Club Champion of Napoleon [3 wins - 2 draws]. Second place for Wim [3 wins - 1 draw - 1 lost] and third spots for Mark van der Linden and Wim Verleijsdonk [2 wins - 1 draw - 2 lost]

The Napoleon members want to thank Johnny van Geffen for his time and work he had when active as the chairman of the club. During the last meeting Johnny told us he though it was time for 'fresh blood'and new ideas. Since the founding of our club Johnny was the chairman now his place will be filled in by Luc Adriaansen. The organisation now looks like this: Luc Adriaansen [Chairman], Wim Verleijsdonk [Secr] and Peter Vissers [Treasure] Johnny, many thanks!

Everybody have a nice December month, stay healthy and have a Strategistic 2005!!

Cheers and see you soon,

Napoleon webmaster
