The computer   Output

The computer screen is also a screen. And it is amazing how uncritical people are in selecting one.
When i bought one quality came first, and like  in buying  a music set you cannot spend too much money on the speakers, the screen is very important, we are very satisfied with IIJAMA  Vision Master VisionMaster pro 22" , a fantastic quiet screen i can recommend to everybody.
A screen tube is a kind of lightbulb, it keeps the attention , for visual weak children it can be a blessing,  kiki reads better off the screen compared to reading from paper.

In the world of  multimedia the content and artistic creativity is lightyears behind of the technical possibilities. And  it is a sad result of capitalistic competition billions are spent on all kinds of stupid games but good and nice educational software is rare and often very expensive.
So expensive only schools can afford them and the home market  is polluted with cheap  but secondrate software.
Still there are enough examples of a creative mingling of pictures,sound, animations , interactive  challenges. I discovered that nearly all the educational software i really think is great comes from the same house ,the  English  D K .
But what i really want  to point out here is that children  disabled, or not, can be very much stimulated by the right kind of software.
Not only parents but also softwarepublishers are not realizing and using the full potential of good and creative educational software. We need speciliazed artdirectors and above all creative scenariowriters, that are close to and in touch  with the educational  reality.

On the output side there are lots of exciting possibilities. For Kiki the computer will be her voice to the world, her key to the world of direct communication.Speechsynthesis will give her her voice.
 

At the end  of this section i have to mention the development, to use the computer to direct and organize all   kinds  of electric equipment ,electric doors, washing macines ,t.v.etc.
This opens the way to a new kind of practical independency.
