Rella (short for Cinderella) was hatched in 1996. Due to an inexperienced breeder banding her too early and putting her back in the nest, her parents became upset and removed the foreign object, along with the claw unfortunately. Hence her name, taken from the fairytale character Cinderella who lost her shoe at the ball. Sometimes having only one claw is a blessing as she is 'hell on wheels' anyway.
Her favorite dishes are mashed potatoes with yoghurt, spaghetti, grapes and anything she's not supposed to have of
course.
On November 24th 1999 we got back the test results on all of our birds.
Its seems poor Rella does not have enough challenges as it is. The vet
informed us she tested positive for polyomavirus. There is nothing we
can do as the vaccine is illegal here in Europe. The vet did tell us
that she should live for a long time providing she does not get her
immune system weakened. And it's too late to isolate her from her
brothers so we'll most likely end up will all of them testing positive
in due course. *sigh*
May 8th 2000: We had all three our fids retested for polyoma. And they all came up NEGATIVE!. Hurrah! It seems the research that says Cockatoo's, amongst others, seem to be able to clear the virus is true...

Congo African Grey (Psittacus erithacus erithacus)
Our youngest son Cuckoo was hatched in 1998. And before you ask, he started out as 'Pete' but in true grey fashion decided he'd pick his own name. Which is the only one he responds to. He can already talk up a
storm and started imitating the phone within days of us acquiring him. With his daddy being a cheesehead and his mommy a redneck, needless to say he's a product of his parents. Stubborn and fiercely independent.
His favorite dishes are cheese (not the processed kind, but real Gouda or Edam of course), green beans, beer/wine (he occasionally gets a taste of those), unsalted crackers and bread.
Cuckoo is Dutch and his brother and sister are American, so there where some problems with different measurement references. But being a CAG, Cuckoo is pretty smart so when he got his claws on the computer keyboard he came up with a handy suite of conversion tools.

Baby is our smallest parrot and was hatched in 1993. Don't let his size or name fool you. He knows no fear and loves to show he is the baddest bird around. His feats include scaring the life out of one poor cat already. He's a mama's boy alright.
His favorite dishes include any part of daddy he can lay his beak on, about any kind of fruit, rice and green beans.

Boston Bull Terrier (Caninus Spoiled Rottenous)
Our parrots now have their own birdyguard. His name is Gordy and he's a Boston Bull Terrier. Gordy recently migrated from Florida to The Netherlands and is still adjusting to the weather as it's somewhat colder and wetter than he is used to.
But he's a tough cookie and can handle a lil cold and a lil rain.
For those who wonder, Gordy is a breed of nonsporting dog, originated by crossing English terriers
with bulldogs in the Boston area during the last quarter of the 19th century. One of the
few truly American breeds, it has a squarish skull and muzzle; small, erect ears; and
wide-set, dark, round eyes. The body length and height-about 36 cm (about 14
in)-match sufficiently to give the animal a squarish look, and it weighs 7 to 11 kg (15 to
25 lb). The back is level, and the short, tapering tail is generally carried below the
horizontal. Brindle in color with white markings or black with white markings, the coat is
short and smooth and lies flat. The Boston terrier is lively, strong, intelligent, and
gentle-an ideal pet. The breed was recognized by the American Kennel Club in 1893.
