*        Born 25th January 1951 at Amsterdam, the Netherlands

Official name: Paulus Nicolaas van der Laan.

*        1967                    Certificate High School

*        1967-1969 Technical College at Amsterdam (H.T.S.)

*        1970-1972 Emigrated to South Africa, business manager at Sport, Sauna & Swimming Institute at Benoni.

*        1973-1975 Insurance broker with "Duinker en Goedkoop", department of the shipping company Vinke & Co at Am­sterdam.

*        10-8-1973  After a radical conversion I became a born again Christian. Ever since I have been a member of a Pentecostal Church (Assemblies of God)

*        1975-1978 Completed the bibleschool Central Pentecostal Bible­­school (Assemblies of God) at The Hague.

*        6-25-1978  Married to Rina De Munck, a class-mate at the Bibleschool. Our marriage is blessed with two wonderful children: our son Timon (born 3-21-1980) and daughter Natas­ja (born 3-15-1982).

*        1978-1979 Completed my study for B.A. in Theology at Conti­nen­tal Bible College at Sint Pieters Leeuw, Brussels, Belgium, presently called Continental Theolog­ical Seminary.

*        1979-1980 Full-time youth-pastor and evangelist at Full Gospel Church at Mechelen (Belg­ium).

*        1980-1985 Teacher at the Central Pentecostal Bibleschool at Zeist, the Netherlands.

*        1982-1988 Pioneer-pastor of the AoG-church at Houten, the Netherlands.  From 1982-1983 I also served as the national leader of the Pentecostal Youth Movement (P.J.B.) in the Netherlands.

*        1985-1989 General Secretary of the Dutch Assemblies of God (Broederschap van Pinkstergemeenten). During this period I also served as the editor in chief of the monthly periodical Gouden Schoven and the quarterly Para­kleet.

*        7-6-1988    Certificate of Doctor of Philosophy (Theo­logy) at the University of Birming­ham (UK). My dissertation was entitled: "The Question of Spiri­tual Unity. The Dutch Pentecostal Movement in Ecume­nical Perspective."

*        1989-1993 President of the Central Pentecostal Bible­school at Lunteren, the Nether­lands. During this period the school was granted state-recognition, through which the school is now called Azusa Theological College.

*        1993-1998 Editor in Chief of the Evangelical Broadcasting Company (Evangelische Omroep, i.e. EO), the largest Christian Broadcasting Network in the Nether­lands with over 600,000 members. The EO broadcasts on Channel 2 of National Television.
