This picture was taken by the American journalist Walter Cronkite who was in the glider that had been shot. The soldier in the back (without helmet) was wounded and brought to first aid.

The policeman (Kees Janse) was my chef in 1966.
When he was ordered to arrest people he warned them before. This man betrayed him to the Germans so Kees had to go into hiding. He swore that he would arrest the man as soon as he could. This was the moment.
Best: Railroad bridge destroyed. After the war this bridge was restored and stayed until 2000 when it was replaced.
Deze spoorbrug in Best werd totaal vernietigd. Na de oorlog werd ze herbouwd en in 200 weggehaald om plaats te maken voor een nieuwe in het kader van de verbreding spoorwegennet.
