concept 2002. You are invited to see what others thought/think about the future pulling concept NewDay.nl really is. [Addition] Since the English session is revived, I might aswell add the first 'hail' towards the concept: Dan Simmons, writer of the illustrious Hyperion Saga.

Dear Mr. Reekers:

The Astrogeology Team is funded by NASA as a research institute, and there are strict restrictions on our activities:   we are not permitted to raise or distribute money, or to do business of any sort.  Our responsibility is to distribute the data produced by our researchers to other NASA-funded researchers; the basic nature of the web has meant  that any material on our web sites is also available as public domain. Good luck with your very interesting project,

Dear Richard,

Thank you for your email.  Yes, I believe very deeply that knowledge of our origins has profound implications for knowing who we are, why we are in charge of the planet, what our obligations are and perhaps even where we are going as a species. I am pleased that you share interests with us.

Yes, we at IHO are always in need of funding for our scientific agenda.  Any funds that can be made available will be welcomed. Good luck raising funds and look forward to learning more,

Best wishes,

Dear Richard:

Thank you for appraising me of your plans and for letting me know of your website.  I wholeheartedly support your efforts to seek wider support for research in such areas as panspermia.  I think the evidence for this is now overwhelming, but research support has been sadly lacking.  You could see what is happening in this area by looking at

Let me know if I can be of assistance in promoting your highly commendable campaign.

Best Wishes

Dear Richard --

Thank you or your inquiry, and for your offer to co-sponsor research with us. We welcome your interest.  In the past we have made multiple grants to support work by Chandra Wickramasinghe. At present we are supporting a reasearch project at the University of Oklahoma that is described at

http://www.panspermia.org/tomray01.htm

In the future we hope to organize, with others, a prize for a computer model that can make evolutionary progress. Our own opinion is that it cannot be done, but our prospective co-sponsors in California believe otherwise -- that should make for a balanced approach. One possibility is that you could contribute a portion of the prize, if that interests you.

The idea is very preliminary -- I've just told you all the details I know. I will post notices on my website as the idea develops.

Is this in line with your thinking?

Best regards.  Brig

Richard --

Thank you for the clarification and the extra kind words.  Harlan's advice to me was certainly important -- pivotal, even -- and I've had opportunities as both a teacher and writer to pass along some things I consider important to others (although not as colorfully as Harlan might). Helping beginning writers (of quality) is a responsibility given to anyone with any measure of success as a published writer.

I admire your philosophy and applaud your efforts.
