Recriational drugs

Drugs are divided in two categories, hard and softdrugs but those categories are defined differently by some countries. Softdrugs are marijuana/grass/weed/ganja and hashish. Harddrugs are alcohol, nicotine(tobacco),coffee, subscription painkillers, heroine, cocaine, crack, morfine, opium, lsd hashoil, absinth and xtc.

Grass,hashish and oil
Marijuana/grass/weed/ganja and hashish are both products of the cannabis plant wich has tetrahydracannabinol (THC) as the working psycho-active ingredient. Probably originating from the Nepalese highlands the cannabisplant made it's way around the planet and is now growing in fields and greenhouses everywhere. Cannabis can be used to make rope, paper, clothing, fuel, oil, soap, food and medicines. By now many people praise the herb for it's medicinal purposes, cancer patients use it after chemo-therapy to stop feeling violently sick,ME patients can change from totally immobile and listless to having partly control of their lives again,it can also prevent cataracts. Some people with breathing problems smoke pure cannabis to open the pores in the longues so they can breathe again. By now some rightwing political parties in Europe want cannabisproducts on the harddrugs list because of the growingtechniques nowadays the percentage of THC in the plants has increased to amazing levels. Hashoil wich is pressed from hashish was always on the harddrugslist because of that. For medicinal and recreational purposes only the female plant is used. When the female cannabis plant flowers it starts producing buds of flowers wich will form a sticky resin wich contains most THC,if grown to smoke as grass the buds will be dried and are ready to smoke but to make hashish there are many methods. In Afghanistan men in leather suites would walk through the fields of cannabis and the resin would stick to the leather wich will be scraped of with knives, then it will be pressed into bars and the high quality oil wich you get after pressing the hasish was kept for personal use. All cannabis products can be eaten or smoked but most prefer to smoke it. There are three ways of smoking in the form of a cigarette with or without tobacco,in a pipe or in a waterpipe or bong the effect of all is the same however a pipe and bong pack more of a punch. The effect of good grass is a light and very pleasant relaxed high feeling in the head and body,a good smoke of grass will make you feel like you're on a flying carpet and give you energy. Both grass and hashish will increase your ability to concentrate and focus on things,it also gives listening to music another dimension. Hashish is more of a relaxing drug and ideal just before bed for a good sleep. A problem with hashish is it can be mixed with all kind of crap to increase the weight so they can make more money, grass buds come straight from the plant and bad quality is easily spotted. Cannabis products are not physicly but sometimes mentally addictive after longterm regular use. Lonterm use might also result in short-time memoryloss, however this was never medicly proven. Some first time users and diabetics can pass out after a smoke and drinking large amounts of alcohol at the same time can make you realy sick. In nearly all cases a drink with sugar will help, also with non-diabetics. No deaths have ever been contributed to smoking grass or hasish however longterm smoking mixed with tobacco is not healthy.

Alcohol
Probably the most used drug on the planet and by most not considered a drug however it is a harddrug and both physicly and mentally addictive. Alcohol is made in a process where sugars ferment into alcohol,a simple process wich is also widely used by homebrewers. Any plant or fruit with natural sugars can be used to make alcohol,in mediteranian countries grapes are used for wine and potatoes are popular in Russia and Poland to make wodka. Socialy accepted in most western cultures alcohol is widely used by young and old,in countries like France it's normal for kids in their early teens to drink wine with dinner. Alcohol together with tobacco kills more people worldwide than all other drugs combined. The danger in alcohol is that you can drink heavily for many years without a noticable problem till it's to late and you wake up in hospital with a perforated liver. Lot's of homeless alcoholics die each winter because the alcohol fools the bodies senses, thinking that your warm while you slowly freeze to death in your sleep.

Tobacco
Simply a killer,it increases the chance of longcancer and heartdisease. Specialy in combination with a bad lifestyle, overweight and no exercise longterm smoking will ruin your health. Till a few years ago smoking was socialy accepted everywhere like drinking alcohol but by now people are finally waking up to the facts and in most western countries smoking is prohibited in government buildings.

Coffee
Cafeine is a harddrug,no joke. Very popular in countries like the Netherlands and Germany coffee is used as an upper, used to wake up in the morning and as a mental boost during work. Coffee can cause some people to become hyperactive while others can drink a gallon and go to sleep. It can cause sleeplessness in some, other than that I never heard of health problems caused by coffee.

Painkillers
Most subscription painkillers and opiate deravatives, and therefore highly addictive. Longterm use is dangerous and will at least cause mental problems. Even shortterm use can have an addictive effect and the danger of an overdose is always present. All opiate derevatives can cause serious healthproblems and should only be taken under medical supervision.
Also see "Morfine" and "Opium"
Heroine
Very addictive and highly dangerous, after one or two time use you'll be in trouble. It stops you from thinking straight and eventualy you'll be living in a world of your own totally disconnected from reality. It makes you feel like your in a happy warm place where everything is beautifull and pleasant. Normal brain signals get blocked so you don't feel pain or hunger and it can cause total loss of musscle control. Because normal signals to the brain are blocked you can get dehydrated very quickly and your digestive system will dry out causing serious constipation. Most use a needle to inject a heroine solution or smoke it by burning it on a piece of tinfoil.

Cocaine
Originally from South America but also found in mummys in Egypt cocaine or coke has been around for a long time. Very popular in Europe and the USA it is used by all social classes from schoolgoing kids to lawyers and doctors. Mostly sniffed up in the nose but also smoked in cigarettes and pipes it's very popular with the weekend crowd in bars and discotheques. Cocaine is very addictive, short time use mostly causes no problems however often cocaine is mixed with anything white to increase weight so you might be sniffing something like paint, chalk or painkillers. Longterm use can cause serious health risks,it will slowly eat away the bone in your nose and can crack the enamel on your teeth and your gums to loose grip on your teeth.

Crack
Crack is a designer drug that originates from the USA and is rarely seen in Europe. While still cocaine the high of crack is probably the most addictive drug of all, since the first time use of crack is an extremely intense experience people want to re-live that feeling. The chance of getting addicted after onetime use is very real and it can cause very serious health problems. A slight overdose can cause immediate heartfailure.

Morfine
Used to be very popular at the beginning of the 1900's,it's still widely used as a very potent painkiller. Nowadays morfine is not so popular and hard to get without subscription however in the USA there is a large group of people addicted to painkillers. Shortterm use under medical supervision causes no longterm effects however longterm use can be very dangerous.

Opium
Is still used a lot in aziatic countries and extremely addictive, the effects are similar to heroine but much more intense. Smoking opium will immobilize you for a few hours up to half a day and like heroine it blocks all normal brainsignals so you won't feel pain or hunger therefore you can go without food for a long time till your body gives up eventualy.

LSD/acid/mushrooms
Hallucogenic/magic mushrooms like the peyote have been used ever since humans roamed this planet, psilocybine is the natural working in substance where LSD is the manmade chemical version. LSD was discovered when somebody ate old bread that had mold on it. The active substances from mushrooms and lsd are different but they have roughly the same effect. Both are eaten and enter the digestive system so it can take hours before it starts to work, eaten on an empty stomach the effect will start in minutes. The trip as it's known will last for three to six hours, increasing the dosage doesn't make it last longer but it will be more intense. Both are not addictive but can be very dangerous for mentally unstable persons. Even if used by a person without mental problems can cause psychotic behavior wich can be irreversable.

XTC
Comes from the USA originaly and was a designer drug made for the treatment of psychiatric patients, nowadays most XTC isn't anything close to the original drug. Now the majority of pills comes from small illegal labratories in Europe and since the original ingredients are only available to licensed chemists now they had to find substitutes. Most XTC nowadays is rubbish and since you can't tell the difference by looking there's a big chance your being ripped off or worse, you get dangerous pills to treat heart diseases. Real XTC if not used to often poses no health risk but the chance of getting real XTC is close to zero. If you are taking real XTC you can have a fantastic experience if you take some precautions,if your going to dance make sure you drink enough. Dehydration often occurs if you take XTC,drink alcohol and dance all night. It can also cause mental problems with mentally unstable persons.

Absinth
Is a strong alcoholic drink containing herbs, anise, wormwood or artemisia absinthium and thujon. Originaly it comes from the Chech republic but is now produced worldwide, most varieties are green in color. It's said to be hallucogenic but I have no experince yet, maybe worth a try. I have not heard of any problems with absinth but since it's an alcoholic drink you shouldn't drive after drinking. Since alcohol is addictive you should be carefull with absinth also,as for everything in live to much is not good.

Ketamine
2-(2-chlorophenyl1)-(methylamino)-cyclohexanone hydrochloride, C13H16ClNO (mol. wt. 237.72) Ketamine is used as a veterinary and medical anaesthetic, and has dissociative/psychedelic effects at lower doses. Ketamine hydrochloride ("Special K" or "K") was originally created for use as a human anaesthetic, and is still used as a general anaesthetic for children, persons of poor health, and in veterinary medicine. Ketamine belongs to a class of drugs called "dissociative anaesthetics," which separate perception from sensation. Other drugs in this category include PCP, DXM and nitrous oxide (laughing gas). Ketamine usually comes as a liquid in small pharmaceutical bottles, and is most often cooked into a white powder for snorting. At lower doses it has a mild, dreamy feeling similar to nitrous oxide. Users report feeling floaty and slightly outside their body. Numbness in the extremities is also common. Higher doses produce a hallucinogenic (trippy) effect, and may cause the user to feel very far away from their body. This experience is often referred to as entering a "K-hole" and has been compared to a near death experience with sensations of rising above one's body. Many users find the experience spiritually significant , while others find it frightening. While in a K-hole it is very difficult to move. People usually remain seated or lying down during the experience.

Most people snort small lines or "bumps" for a mild, dreamy effect. The effect comes on within about 5 to 10 minutes. 100mg is usually enough to enter a K-hole. If liquid is injected into the muscle, less is needed to enter a K-hole. Effects can be felt within four minutes. (Ketamine is never injected into the vein). If swallowed, the effects come on in 10 - 20 minutes. Some people become nauseous after taking ketamine. Occasionally ketamine has been sold in a capsule as "Ecstasy," although it is nothing like MDMA (real ecstasy). While low doses of Ketamine can increase heart-rate, at higher doses it depresses consciousness and breathing and is extremely dangerous to combine with downers like alcohol, Valium or GHB. Frequent use can cause disruptions in consciousness and lead to neuroses or other mental disorders. Ketamine can cause a tremendous psychological dependence. The dissociation from one's consciousness experienced with ketamine can be highly seductive to some people, and there are many cases of ketamine addiction. Ketamine is illegal and possession can result in long prison terms.

Have fun and stay safe
