Hammering a site with this client, and most probably getting banned because of it, is very likely if you are not monitoring your connection and downloads! To avoid hammering a site see the relevant information under Adding a site to the Configured Sites list. When you first run WS_FTP, it will open the WS_FTP Sites dialogue (below). Click Cancel, then click the Options button on the main window to open the WS_FTP Pro Properties dialogue. In the General section, enter your email address in the E-Mail Address field. This doesn't have to be your real email address assigned by your ISP but it is good practice to use a valid email address. you can use a "throw away" address from one of the many free servers like www.hotmail.com or www.yahoo.com. Click the OK button to save your changes and close the dialogue. 2. Connecting to a site Now you're ready to connect, so click the Connect button to reopen the WS_FTP Sites dialogue. If you just want to connect to a site once only, click the Quick Connect button, otherwise if you want to add a site to your list of configured sites, or want to add a new folder in your list, select the folder in which to create the new entry and click the New button. Note that if you need to specify a port number other than 21 you will have to set up a new site, it cannot be done with quick connect. In the Quick Connect dialogue, enter the FTP site address in the Name/IP Address field. This will be either a string or four numbers separated by periods, eg. kingpin.dynip.com or 123.123.123.123. If the site allows anonymous login, check the Anonymous check box, otherwise enter a User ID and Password in the appropriate fields. Now press the OK button and WS_FTP Pro will immediately attempt to connect. 3. Adding a site to the Configured Sites list Click the Connect button to open the WS_FTP Sites dialogue.
